I got the white and colored lights so look at the pictures of the colored light as well. With both items the quality looks good. The battery box has a gasket that should keep it fairly water tight. Good enough to hang in a tree or wear outside on a rainy night. The plastic rope is soft and supple. There is a plug connecting the battery box to the lights. I don’t think it is meant to come apart often but this allows you to put the box in your shirt pocket and run the lights out onto a costume or jacket for fun. It’s not too bright so it best as a back ground lighting. The white is brighter than the colored string. Almost bright enough to read when bunched up but not quite. It’s perfect for background ambiance or wrapping around yourself. Great to mark the side of a path for a party or hang in a tree or along a fence. The timer is great so you can put it up for Christmas or any holiday in a hard to reach spot and it will go on and off at the right time. I was bummed it doesn’t have a flash setting. With technology as it is I would think a flash mode would not be too hard given the size of the controller boxes on other led lights. For the price I didn’t knock off a star. It is still a great set of lights that is super portable for having fun and help set the mood.

Great little set of sturdy lights. I used them to wrap my bike frame for the holidays. The battery compartment is rather bulky but it’s definitely water tight and easy to open with no tools required. I’d buy them again but hopefully won’t have to.

While these The Holiday Showtime 26 ft. 100-LED Light Warm White Micro-Dot Rope Light say Holiday, these can be used year-round to add a nice glowing feeling. I’ve chosen to put them up on my screen porch. I just stapled them up – the hardest part was going up and down the ladder! They are 26 ft long so they go all the way across the front wall and about 3 feet to each side. The rope contains 100 warm white micro-dot LEDs. Its battery operated and uses 3 AA batteries that are not included. Being battery operated could become expensive – but allows it to be put anywhere. It is water resistant, so it can be used outside. It has 3 settings, on all the time, on 8 hours off 16 (Timer) and off.

This is an interesting example of modern LED technology at work. Note that SIX “AA” batteries are required to make the string work. Not that these lights are very bright – they would wash out in a normally lit room – but in the dark they are plenty bright enough. Being battery operated, they are electrically safe for children and open endless opportunities for decorating areas far removed from an electric outlet. With the sealed battery case, you can place your lights just about anywhere.

I absolutely love these microdot rope lights. They are really so fun to use, and so far we are having a great time playing with them and putting them in different places in the house. They can go outdoors or indoors without any issues. Especially my daughter loves to play with them. I love the look of them. I would recommend this to a friend looking for some lighting!
