I thought it was great, and solved a problem, but after not using for a while and putting back on and taking off, forgot about the little switch. Apparently ON when connected and the drive didn’t come up, not even in drive management. Blown, even after sent to Seagate for data recovery of the internal Iron wolf drive, about 10,000 movie, jpg & RAW files only had ~105 bytes of data, so useless, thousands more with names like $hkeziou, and all types jumbled in ‘found folders’ Large parts of the directory tree were intact but so much lost and more that would take weeks or months to refigure and move, that I will probably reformat the returned drive. fortunately it was a backup drive. But DON’T FORGET THAT SWITCH!

I had a couple of hard drives from the past 5-10 years that I wanted to look through, and I didn’t want the hassle of adding and then removing them from my PC. So, I got this little guy. Works like a charm. Can feel a little inexpensive, but it does get the job done. The exterior is a thin metal, so be careful. Hard drive gets mounted in the device, then you attach the front with screws to hold everything in place. SATA drives only! Pros -Inexpensive and works great -Was expecting plastic, but got metal. Bonus! Cons -The drive bay you attach the the HDD to feels a little cheap and possibly easy to break. Be careful when putting it back in the enclosure, if you put it in wrong you could possibly break the LED. Overall, highly recommend if you are looking for an external enclosure.

Put a spare drive in here to make it useful. You have to be very careful when installing a drive because the status LED rests right next to a piece of metal that can easily knock it off. Despite that, it’s a sturdy case. I’ve had it connected to a Linux computer running 24/7 for weeks at a time, and I haven’t noticed any failures.

I bought two of these enclosures to re-purpose two drives that I had replaced with higher-capacity drives. The enclosures are well designed, sturdy, and are easy to install drives into. I would consider buying these again.
