Very few ports on my laptop and after downloading the latest drivers this was very easy plug and play. I’m using it with display port for my old HP monitor and with USB-c for new Dell Ultrasharp curved monitor. I have my wireless keyboard and mouse connected as well. Completely charges my laptop, thus no need for laptop adapter. The audio module has much better sound quality than any laptop I’ve seen, but still a far cry from excellent. Microphone and speakers work well enough for audio/video calls for work. I am very satisfied!

We bought two of these HP G2 docks, one with audio and one without. The dock with audio we have had for about 18 months, and the other dock just over a year. These docks were purchased to go with HP laptops. Both of them will periodically drop connections, especially with the monitors. After messing with the connections can usually get everything working again, but we should not have to do this at all. I have purchased other brands of Thunderbolt 3 docks for other laptops, including MacBook Pros, and have had better luck with some of these others docks. We may end up replacing these G2 docks with something else.

This Dock’s audio works on and off, never works properly for more than a few hours. Constant resets and general frustration.

30 seconds to replace cable. This one separates into 2 at laptop end. Works and fits perfectly.

I am on my second high powered HP mobile workstation. This allows me to connect a single cable when I move from home to office, and it drives up to three monitors simultaneously. Be sure to order the right one: workstations that ship with 150 watt power supplies need this version. Lower power models can get power supplied from less expensive thunderbolt docks that will supply power over the thunderbolt cable. This version has a combo thunderbolt and power cable tethered together.

I was having issues finding a compatible docking station to handle the power of my new computer. I reached out to the B & H team and they suggested the HP Thunderbolt G2, and it was not only a great service experience, but the suggestion was spot on! Great organization to do business with!!!

This model is specifically for those with high powered HP notebooks–models that consume more power than can be delivered via Thunderbolt. As a result, this has a 230 watt power brick. So don’t purchase this particular version if you use a computer that uses less than a 100w power supply. The unit works flawlessly and is an ideal companion for my HP Zbook.
