Compatible with laptop systems such as HP, Apple, Dell, or Lenovo, the USB Type-C Dock G5 from HP adds USB 3.0 Type-C, USB 3.0 Type-A, DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0, RJ45 Ethernet, and 3.5mm combo audio connectivity to systems equipped with Thunderbolt or USB Type-C. This dock is powered using an included 120W AC adapter and connects to your host system using an integrated USB Type-C cable that provides up to 100W of charging power for HP systems and up to 75W for non-HP systems.
In addition to providing data transfer speeds of up to 5 Gb/s, the USB 3.0 Type-C port provides up to 15W of power. If you need to add additional displays to your setup, up to three displays are supported, including your laptop’s screen. Supported resolutions include Full HD (1920 x 1200 or 1920 x 1080), 2.5K (2560 x 1600 or 2560 x 1440), 4K (4096 x 2160 or 3840 x 2160), 5K (5120 x 2880), and 8K. All resolutions operate at 60 Hz, aside from 4096 x 2160, which runs at 30 Hz. Please check with HP to see the limitations and requirements to achieve these resolutions.
Please note that for USB Type-C functionality, your host system must support the DisplayPort Alt mode protocol through its USB Type-C port. Thunderbolt-enabled notebooks will function at USB speeds. Charging and port replication is supported on systems that have implement USB Type-C industry specifications. Using the power button to turn on or wake the system, Wake-on-LAN from warn and cold dock, Wake-on-LAN from S4/S5, and MAC Address Pass-Through S0, S3, S4, S5 warm and cold dock features only on HP or HP-supported systems. HP does not provide Ethernet and audio drives on Macs.

The description says it supports three external displays but does not say that it only supports 2 in full resolution. Spent along time figuring out that I need a vga to hdmi adapter.

Would love to use but haven’t been able to connect it to my notebook but the only connection is a USB-C and my poor notebook (Brand New) has no USB-C connections.

Works seamlessly! Helps keep everything in one place!

After buying a “universal” docking station that would work intermittently with my setup of 2 external monitors + laptop screen, I bought this one. It cost nearly twice as much but it actually works and is worth every penny. As a non-IT guy, I just wanted something that is simple to use and this is it.

Decent feature set if it would put out a usable current to charge the laptop. Do not buy for ZBOOK Fury G7, does not charge properly.

Got this to go with my probook 440 G7. worked fine for a couple of months but one day stopped connecting my external monitor. tried with several different laptops with no joy. Seems to be a common problem. Disappointed as it was a great piece of kit when it worked

This dock is reliable, easy to install, has many ports to connect up to 3 monitors and a great deal of USB ports, including a USB-C port. I like that it is small which makes it ideal to transport between home and office. There is only one little option I wish we had on the dock, an extra HDMI port as it only has one HDMI port.

This is the best docking station! Such an ijprovement over the ones where you literally dock your laptop. This is sleek and a lot less bulky!

The USB-C cord which connects the dock to the computer is not replaceable, and mine failed in under 4 months. Not a high quality cable and essentially rendered the entire station useless.

My first transition from a physical docking station to USB-C docking was not pleasant…. until I bought the HP G5 dock. I’m running a new HP Spectre X360 with the laptop + 2 HP monitors. My first USB-C dock (another brand) was cheaper, but would freeze my extra displays (with the correct setup and drivers). HP to the rescue! I purchased the new G5 dock and had it up and running in less than 10 minutes, including configuration.

My HP dock does exactly what I needed: computer is handy to pack up and go, while the cords are out of the way.

The G5 dock was purchased to allow me to connect multiple monitors. The dock has multiple ports which can be used to connect different items making my work space much cleaner. It was super easy to set up just unbox and plug everything in.

I have a Z-Book for work and an Envy 360 for personal use. I now discover that the USB-C G5 dock doesn’t seem to work with the Envy laptop. This is a huge limitation unless there is something I’m doing wrong.

I purchased the dock for my new laptop. Did not realize I needed a different type of USB-C port for it to work. Disappointing but the return was very easy. Thanks to HP for great customer service.

I just pugged it in and it worked. The new computers do not come with enough ports. This port replicator adds ports for every thing I needed to plug in and more.

Bought this one month ago and it’s perfect for home

I bought 2 for new staff members after researching for compatibility. I worked for a day before the battery on their computer died an forced us to buy a new computer, the other worked for 2 weeks before causing the same issue with the 2nd computer. I was told I can’t return them because it’s over 30 days even though we didn’t take them out of the box for 2 weeks. All in all we are out 400 for the docks and 1800 for new computers that are not compatible with them now.

The doc only has two Display port connections, so if using a monitor with VGA, you will need an adaptor. Also, I am connected through a network data cable, but the dock kept dropping the connection, so I had to connect the laptop directly to the network and use the dock for my monitors (with adaptors), scanner, and mouse/keyboard

Purchased for work from home. Worked solid for 6 months, now its not working, led is just flashing. Help information is not helpful, will be returning this for replacement. 2-stars because it worked OK for 6 months, now it doesn’t work at all.

Shouldn’t this product suppose to charge a docked USB-C enabled laptop? I have a new MacBook Pro and does not require over 100 W of power. Do I have a defective product? I got this product so that I would only have to plug in 1 cable when I dock my laptop. The battery on the top right shows it’s charging but it’s actually it’s not. The battery percentage keeps declining.
