In addition to providing data transfer speeds of up to 5 Gb/s, the USB 3.0 Type-C port provides up to 15W of power. If you need to add additional displays to your setup, up to three displays are supported, including your laptop’s screen. Supported resolutions include Full HD (1920 x 1200 or 1920 x 1080), 2.5K (2560 x 1600 or 2560 x 1440), 4K (4096 x 2160 or 3840 x 2160), 5K (5120 x 2880), and 8K. All resolutions operate at 60 Hz, aside from 4096 x 2160, which runs at 30 Hz. Please check with HP to see the limitations and requirements to achieve these resolutions.
Please note that for USB Type-C functionality, your host system must support the DisplayPort Alt mode protocol through its USB Type-C port. Thunderbolt-enabled notebooks will function at USB speeds. Charging and port replication is supported on systems that have implement USB Type-C industry specifications. Using the power button to turn on or wake the system, Wake-on-LAN from warn and cold dock, Wake-on-LAN from S4/S5, and MAC Address Pass-Through S0, S3, S4, S5 warm and cold dock features only on HP or HP-supported systems. I use this with a ZBook G6 and it is convenient to only have to plug in the thunderbolt cable to connect keyboard, mouse, network, two monitors, headset, and power. The driver could use some improvement since the screens flash three times when waking up from sleep and sometimes only one wakes up. Generally though, it works well enough.

The dock loses connection on HDMI AND on the display port when using two monitors.

Very convenient to have just one thing to plug in to connect monitors, mouse, and keyboard. Works great.

Easy set up. Minimalist design makes it very convenient to set it up anywhere.

I’ve used docking stations from several different manufacturers, and my favorites have all been HP docks. They are easily the most consistently reliable docks. Docks from other manufacturers may be less expensive, but in my experience you do get what you pay for.

These docks are extremely well made. From the correct length of cable (not too long as to get in the way, and not too short where you need dock right next to your laptop), the right number of USB 3.0 ports, an additional USC-C, and dual 4k display support.

Really nice HP Spectre notebook but cobbled together a bunch of off brand adaptors to get more ports especially for the remote monitor. Life is better today. No more beeping from my computer and disconnects in the middle of a doc. Using add on HP keyboard and mouse, extra monitor, and assorted hard drives and 3 printers.

I bought two of these docks to go along with two new EliteBook 850 G7 computers for my wife and I. Love the simplicity if offers along with the very comprehensive feature set and small package. Has simplified my office setup and portability as well.

Overall works very well. I have noticed that, when my laptop is connected to the docking station, the internal laptop microphone will not be recognized. For some reason the docking station wants to control the audio, so when there is no mic plugged into the docking station, the computer will register that the mic is “unplugged” and the audio input won’t work. Maybe a software issue that should be addressed.

I got this product because my new HP computer only came with a few I/O ports and I needed to connect multiple monitors as well as a few accessory devices to get my work station up and going. I like the size of the hub at 5″x5″ but the issue comes with hiding the power cable and block. Not too much of a big deal but it’s kinda in the way and makes the back of my desk messy.

Works great as a hub for my peripherals, but does not always connect the USB-A devices (keyboard and mouse). For reference, I use this to switch between my laptop and desktop. It seems to work fine with the desktop, so there’s a chance the USB-A issue is with my HP laptop rather than the hub itself.

I am still waiting on my new laptop but this works great on my current one. I don’t like seeing chords every where. I am using 2 Elite monitors and my laptop and they work great together. Would recommend over and over!

I have used the actual “dock in” docking stations for about a decade. Using best practices, I was always making sure my laptop was logged off so I didn’t “hot dock” which was either a thing or it wasn’t, depending on which IT professional I was speaking to. This thing is SO much simpler. It takes up about as much room as a CD case, and it was seriously plug & play right out of the box. I didn’t have to download any drivers, and I had all the cords I needed. I do wonder why HP chooses to use the display port connectors, since they can be hard to find especially since many monitors have HDMI ports only. That would mean you have to buy an HDMI to DisplayPort cable, but I had them anyway so it’s fine.

This dock is one of the best I’ve used. It does have some quirks. I went through 3 that didn’t function correctly causing dropped video frames with multiple displays or freezing. The quirks that I noticed with this one: -using HDMI for a 3rd monitor (LG tv) requires resetting frame rate in the gpu settings to 30hz which according to the documentation from HP is not possible for the dock. But worked well for me. Same using display port. – when using HDMI for display output with multiple peripherals I had a slowdown with ethernet speed which cleared up when I changed to display port output. This remained consistent with 2 display ports using extended desktop. Using ROG zephyrus g15 with rtx 3070 and AMD CPU.

All other plug in ports work fine, just will not support the proper resolution for all available video ports Recommend product with caveat or if you don’t need three monitors you’ll be good.

We have around 24 of these in the office and they all exhibit the same issues. 1) The LAN port will randomly stop sending or receiving packets during use. 2) Monitors connected to the display ports will randomly not wake from sleep. The issues appear to be related to the dock’s power management.

Works great, exactly what I needed, but on the expensive side for a docking station

I work from home as a medical transcriptionist and needed something to consolidate my workstation. I also homeschool my children so it is imperative to maintain a clean and accessible environment for both my career and my children’s’ education. The HP USB-C dock is a lifesaver! I am able to add our accessories and equipment without making the desktop appear cluttered. I also utilize two displays so I can work and follow through with their progress online. The dock conveniently has display ports as well as HDMI 2.0 as well as multiple USB 3.0 slots (I can charge my phone!) I love that I can plug my workstation directly into this dock and not have to use my regular charging cable thus cutting down on the mess of wires. It is compact and very sleek. I am enjoying this dock thus far and will be sure to update again in the near future!

Makes workstation available from anywhere! Makes gaming on the go, way easier. Perfect accessory for LAN parties, or traveling and not wanting to be tied down using bad laptops in hotel computer labs.

Only thing that got me is that the USB C connector won’t display video, wish it did for additional options
