Compatible with laptop systems such as HP, Apple, Dell, or Lenovo, the USB Type-C Dock G5 from HP adds USB 3.0 Type-C, USB 3.0 Type-A, DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0, RJ45 Ethernet, and 3.5mm combo audio connectivity to systems equipped with Thunderbolt or USB Type-C. This dock is powered using an included 120W AC adapter and connects to your host system using an integrated USB Type-C cable that provides up to 100W of charging power for HP systems and up to 75W for non-HP systems.
In addition to providing data transfer speeds of up to 5 Gb/s, the USB 3.0 Type-C port provides up to 15W of power. If you need to add additional displays to your setup, up to three displays are supported, including your laptop’s screen. Supported resolutions include Full HD (1920 x 1200 or 1920 x 1080), 2.5K (2560 x 1600 or 2560 x 1440), 4K (4096 x 2160 or 3840 x 2160), 5K (5120 x 2880), and 8K. All resolutions operate at 60 Hz, aside from 4096 x 2160, which runs at 30 Hz. Please check with HP to see the limitations and requirements to achieve these resolutions.
Please note that for USB Type-C functionality, your host system must support the DisplayPort Alt mode protocol through its USB Type-C port. Thunderbolt-enabled notebooks will function at USB speeds. Charging and port replication is supported on systems that have implement USB Type-C industry specifications. Using the power button to turn on or wake the system, Wake-on-LAN from warn and cold dock, Wake-on-LAN from S4/S5, and MAC Address Pass-Through S0, S3, S4, S5 warm and cold dock features only on HP or HP-supported systems. HP does not provide Ethernet and audio drives on Macs.

I bought this docking station and it came out defective (it just didn’t turn on). I contacted customer support and they shipped a replacement without any problem. Problem is, that graphics where not compatible with my laptop so I had to cancel the replacement and return the deffective all together. The station does look great and seems to do the job just fine, but sadly I couldn’t actually test it since it wasn’t compatible. Make sure you check if your computer displays through C dock before you buy!

Even as a mac user this dock still does a great job! With just one single USB-C connection needed on my Macbook Pro, this dock gets me all the ports I need. I no longer have to carry around all my extra dongles. I especially like how this dock has 2 normal USB ports and an HDMI as well.

This docking station is the perfect size and packs a lot of features. I connect up my HP Elite Book to this with no issues. I have 2 monitors connected up via the HDMI and Display ports with no issues and able to plug my Ethernet cable right into instead of using WIFI for faster speeds. No issues with the USBC connection. No lag in speed or with display.

Looking for a dock that would work with both our recent MacBooks and HP EliteBooks with USB-C. Worked very well with HP driving 2 external displays from either 2 displayport or 1 displayport & 1 HDMI. MacBook was able to drive both displays (extended) only when one was connected via DisplayPort and the other was connected using a USB-C to HDMI adapter. Dock was able to charge both laptops from single Thunderbolt connector. Exceptional quality. Five stars!

I really like this docking station because it provides power to my laptop, so I can keep the power cord in my laptop bag. Also because I can turn on and turn off the laptop from the docking station. I keep my laptop lid closed and it is connected to a double screen monitors. So it is worth a price.

While the device is not thunderbolt certified ( 4 stars not 5), it definitely pushes the bits through from my laptop. It drives two external monitors. My laptop is thunderbolt, but I guess that probably saved me some licencing fee money in the purchase price with dock not being certified. No hiccups. Just always works! And it stays cool to the touch, not a coffee warmer like my previous dock :).
