Able to easily fit into smaller workspaces, the LaserJet Pro M227fdw All-in-One Monochrome Laser Printer from HP still manages to deliver outstanding speed as well as a multi-functional design that incorporates printing, scanning, copying, and faxing into a single unit. It will help your office deliver sharp documents with its 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution and can work quickly and efficiently at up to 30 ppm in simplex. Automatic duplex printing is also available at up to 18 ipm and the printer has built-in Wi-Fi connectivity and NFC for various mobile printing protocols, including tap-to-print.
Opening the door for scanning, copying, and faxing is the inclusion of the 8.5 x 11.7″ flatbed and a 35-sheet ADF that can work with media up to 8.5 x 14″ in size. General media handling is offered in two ways, either through the main 250-sheet input tray or a 10-sheet priority tray. Operation of the printer is intuitive through the 2.7″ touchscreen LCD and there is a front USB port for directly printing from or scanning to a portable drive. Additionally, it offers USB 2.0 and Ethernet, in addition to the wireless options.

The printer performs as advertised. I purchased it because HP quit supporting my previous HP printer. The company did not produce an updated driver that allowed it to interface with the new Big Sur operating system, thus turning my old printer into a cinderblock. This is the 2nd time I have had to discard a functioning product due to HP dropping driver support. On setting up and installing printer driver/software, the printer worked perfectly with the Mac OS interface. The provided HP software was much more problematic … failing to recognize aspects of the connected printer. I subsequently found connecting with HP technical support to be a tedious and frustrating process, so I decided to just rely on the already functioning Mac OS interface with the printer. Bottom line: Though the printer performs adequately, I am not an HP fan because of the company’s product/customer support issues and would have preferred a Brother printer … but they are seriously backordered. I guess lots of others prefer them too.

I have had prior models of the HP Laserjet Pro MFP M227fdw printer and they have been great. Apparently HP has changed the software to the printer (HP Smart), and this new software has caused me all sorts of problems setting up the printer and getting it to work properly. I have been on the telephone with your tech support twice now, and counting. The fax beeps every now and then for no apparent reason. Very annoying.

Easy to setup, so long as the CD is used and not the download version. On 1 computer the CD was used, everything worked like a champ. On another computer, chose the ‘use downloaded version’ and that’s when trouble started. Scanning was not properly installed, not all options available. Required uninstall, reinstall from CD to get all software fully functional. When printing over 100 pages, part way through an error message pops up. Have not called tech support yet for diagnosis.

I’ve searched for several years for a moderate cost, home use wireless mono-laser all-in-one that does jam-free duplex printing. A few were out there, but reviews ultimately gave caution to not jump on them, duplex features being problematic. This one came along, had enough of the right words in reviews, product summary, and specifications to give hope, so I bought one. It shipped immediately, had it in two days in Hawaii (at regular free shipping). I was concerned that there might be a wireless setup issue with a Mac, but was delighted to discover it took longer to get it out of the box and pull the blue tape than to connect wirelessly to my Mac and Apple mobile platforms and print/scan flawlessly…measured in short moments. As a disclaimer, I did not set up/do not use the facsimile function. Print quality is bright and crisp. Initially I was getting a small drum toner smudge on printed documents. Running a laser cleaning sheet through five times resolved that perfectly. Three weeks later I am very confident my choice in this product was correct. Every expectation was far exceeded.

I recently started a new job for which I am working from home. This is the printer that is recommended and supported by my new employer and I am very happy with it. Easy to set up, easy to use and great quality.
