For my printer to work, it has to have this cartridge. If the cartridge is out, it won’t even print a text only document. I thought it was a PHOTO cartridge? If you don’t absolutely need this cartridge, don’t purchase it!

My HP printer requires 4 small cartridges and one larger black one. Current color cartridge packs do NOT include the small black cartridge. I despaired of locating this one until I learned that it is labeled a “photo” cartridge. I thought I was going to have to purchase a more up to date printer.

I installed the new cartridges and then had a great problem getting the printer to print. It was grey and the black did not show up. I don’t know why. It eventually printed color and black but goes out occasionally.

I ordered the 564 black ink cartridge because thats what was required but there was nothing to tell me there were two different 564 black cartridges. I only found this out after spending about an hour online going to various forums and found literally hundreds of complaints. This was after opening the package and attempting to install the cartridge. No more HP products for me. I just wonder how many times something like this has happened with other HP products.

This photo ink cartridge makes the difference in printing portraits in particular. HP needs to return to manufacturing printers that employ this or a similar photo cartridge. It allows photographs printed with this cartridge to show more detail in shadow, black, white and highlight areas of a photo.

This is the SMALL black cartridge with BOW-TIE symbol, NOT the LARGE cartridge with PENTAGON symbol. Packaging doesn’t indicate difference! * * * TIP: “Photo” ink is SMALL black cartridge with BOW-TIE symbol, regular black ink is LARGE cartridge with PENTAGON symbol. (XL doesn’t indicate cartridge size, either.)
