This switch does not provide power over Ethernet. I searched for POE switches and this unit appears in the results. It is part of a series of switches that are listed as POE, although this model does NOT. I have been trying for weeks to exchange it but support has been less than responsive.

I used to buy some other Linksys switches, but I’ve had them burn out on me, so I decided to get this instead since I’ve heard these are more reliable. So far it’s working really well, and I’ve had it quite a while now. I love the build quality and the indicator lights. It tells me what speed my connections are and when they are transmitting data. Some of the other ones I’ve used only tell you the link is up and whether it is transmitting.

I had a good prior experience with a managed HPE Switch, so I took the dive again. This switch is just a plug and play with no management options, which were unnecessary for my intended use and probably for most home users. It is more pricey than some functionally equivalent options. This is why I decided to pay a little more. First, it serves as the Ethernet connection point between various desktop devices, my computer, and my single Ethernet wall outlet. I like that the ports are on the backside of the switch so the Ethernet cables sit neatly behind while the port status lights are on the front where I can see them. Second, the switch that it replaced was very plasticky and light, so to keep it from flopping around I had to secure it with Velcro. This switch has a metal housing, and while small in size, is more weighty and substantial. It just sits in place. The aesthetics are very basic and simple. Not fancy or stylish at all, but that suits me. And, of course, when I plugged it in, it just worked, which is what you expect for PnP. Only negative is that there are cheaper options, but the relatively higher price point was worth it for me. Recommended.
