Other HP printer died and could not revive. Stayed with HP because of the print quality. Pleased that I did.

Yes, I needed a new HP printer as my previous HP printer was dated 2003. The 7800 series is well suited to my family needs.

My newly purchased 7855 told me it had “counterfeit” cartridges installed. They came with the initial printer purchase. I had not loaded the other newly purchased HP cartridges yet. The tri-color lasted for only 6 full sheets -8.5 x 11, full color documents. Is that intended?

I bought this 7855 to replace my old 8660 printer, not knowing nothing about this printer I took a chance and bought it, set up was simple and fast. The best part of this printer other then printing great photos is printing both sides of the paper and not having to flip the paper over and reinsert it and it is quiet and doesn’t shake the table.

I wish I could tell you all the pros and cons, but I am still 100-percent confused and still too deep into trying to figure out some of the basic operations. It would be nice to have had some WRITTEN instructions COME with the printer. It seems as if HP depends on purchasers using professional IT people for initial installation and/or having quite a bit of experience and using their online support. Not even basic things are easy or explained, like how to install the ink cartridges or where/how to put in regular or photo paper. I have the printer connected directly to my computer and do not want “wireless connectivity.” The constantly flashing blue wireless icon on the printer is annoying and I cannot figure out how to stop it. So far, I have been unable to set the printer up to print photos, e.g., eliminate the white borders, and as another review puts it while printing photos the printer “sounds like a coffee grinder or gravel conveyor.” These are not all the comments I have, but just a couple of additional things before I get off my soap box: Make sure you buy ink cartridges as the printer comes with only “setup ink cartridges” – who knows how long they will last, and don’t forget photo paper as the included “media pack” does not include very many sheets and they get used up fast when printing is “trial and error.”

Getting this to review was awesome! I have never had a printer this nice with so many functions. I opted not to install it myself although it seemed simple enough. My brother set it up in less than a half hour including downloads. There is absolutely nothing I can`t do from my phone, tablet, and laptop. As a non-technical person, I am amazed by the quality of photos, the ease of scanning, the super color copies. I still have a landline so faxing is possible. I now have a home office.

The software install for this printer has not gone smoothly. It keeps creating two printer entries in Devices and Printers. One just has a General and a Hardware tab in Properties. The Hardware tab only has one listing for the Print queues. The other has General, Hardware and Web Services tabs. The Hardware tab has 7 line items for all of the other printer functions. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled and gotten the same result.

So far, my All-in-one printer has done every they claim! I haven’t used it as a fax yet though. The best part is printing from my phone. It’s so easy!!

The printed directions that came with this printer were terribly insufficient. I’m reasonably competent when it comes to setting up new tech products but found the set-up instructions impossible to follow. I still haven’t figured out how to enable two sided printing, which is one of the major features I want in a printer. HP needs to invest time and effort into making set up and coordination between equipment easier for normal people who don’t work with enabling technology on a daily basis.

I made an excellent choice in picking this printer as the one I needed to perform my items in many ways of my life.

I like my new printer. I had the HP Photosmart for 10 years until it quit working, and the Photo Envy does do a nice job of printing pictures so I am happy with it, and the price was affordable. I just wish it was easier to set up so I hadn’t had to call the HP technical people for help, but they did a nice job of helping me for the most part.
