I ordered and received the new HP m404dw in quick time. Great delivery. It works like a charm. I was almost tricked when I got to the HP site by a hacker who wanted to install it for me. Don’t get fooled. It was easy and it is smooth, silent and works like a charm. A must have for people like myself who work from home and need the quality and speed that this printer provides.

Set up in about 5 minutes. Slick dashboard printer management software. Silent. Fast. Comes with a real cartridge – not a starter one. Smaller footprint than its older HP predecessor. I have not yet tried the wireless functionality, but I am looking forward to it. It is also too early to tell how efficient it is with ink usage. Overall, I couldn’t be happier. I am planning to purchase two more for the office.

The delivery from BH and the printer’s performance are outstanding. I always am satisfied with HP. One difficulty with initial setup though. There are three ways to have the printer recognized in your WiFi network. Unfortunately, I poked around in the printer’s menu, then it could not be recognized even while the wifi indicator was flashing. I finally discovered that the printer goes into a special setup mode on initial power up. Depending on whether connecting by PC, phone, or USB cable to get to WiFi, it might be a problem. I discovered that by choosing the network reset to factory settings, I finally initialized to the mode needed. The setup software on the PC says if it is a laserjet, use the wifi setup wizard on the printer’s menu but there is no such menu option on this model! Now it works great.

Replaces an HP 4200 I refurbished several times but is now no longer worth the effort. The M404 is actually faster and much lighter than the printer it replaced. Time will tell how its holds up but I am very pleased so far.

HP’s laserjet printer quality has diminished significantly for the past five years. The hardware has a flimsy feel and the structure is subpar. The Laserjet Pro M404dw is one the few models that still offers users the ability to download the latest driver and install manually. The others require internet connectivity for the printer then HP Smart will take over the installation task. Complete trash.

Great compact printer for home use. A little expensive, but it is fast quiet and doesn’t take up much space.

I purchased the M404dw to replace a very old HP LaserJet 1300. I was able to get the printer running on my home wireless network and installed on several computers without much difficulty. So far it is working well. It’s nice to have duplexing capability and also nice to be able to print from an iphone and my son’s Chromebook.
