A multifunctional unit for demanding workplaces, the Color LaserJet Pro M479FDN Multifunction Printer from HP offers printing, scanning, copying, and faxing functions to fulfill your imaging needs. This model produces sharp text and prints in black or color at speeds as fast as 28 ppm while supporting media sizes up to 8.5 x 14", and for handling media the printer comes equipped with two paper trays. Tray 1 has a 50-sheet capacity for smaller jobs, and for larger jobs Tray 2 has a 250-sheet capacity. In addition to the two input trays, the M479FDN also has a 50-sheet ADF and a 150-sheet output bin. Scan speeds are a quick 26 ppm while copy speeds are as fast as 19 ppm. Additionally, the unit lets you scan to e-mail and a USB thumb drive. You can quickly check and change settings via the 4.3" color touchscreen, and the unit offers USB 2.0 and Ethernet slots in the back for connecting to a computer. Made to be durable, the M479FDN features a maximum monthly duty cycle of 50,000 pages, with a recommended volume between 750 and 4000 pages.

My wife and I left an office where we had gotten used to enterprise-class printer features — fast scan to e-mail with document feeder, duplex printing, full color, fast printing and easy network access. When we opened our small office my old inkjet printer just wouldn’t cut it anymore so after some shopping we settled on this printer. This printer cost about 1/10th of what the enterprise-printer would cost and yet does everything it did except for one thing: 11×17 sized paper. Of course there is such multifunction printer in this price class that could do that (we looked — no dice) so this model is about the best that there is. I am not a big fan of how they organized the menu on the control to much panel but it isn’t too hard to figure out even without a manual. So I wouldn’t take a star off for that even os. Tip when ordering: on your initial order be sure to include a set of high-capacity printer cartridges. The ones that come with the printer are lower capacity so save yourself some time.

Overall I’m happy with my purchase. Set up wasn’t as difficult as other reviews make it seem. That said, I am probably more tech savvy than most. A couple of minor disappointments: 1) You can’t scan to a Mac from the printer’s control panel, only from the computer itself (our old scanner had the same issue – must be some weird Apple networking thing). 2) Doesn’t have intelligent two sided scanning where it skips blank pages

I’m good with tech, and this product still generates HOURS of time when you have issues, and you will. Internet, airprint connectivity problems with mac, IP addresses vanish, etc. I never write reviews, just trying to save you $ and time here.

My previous HP printer, after many years, gave up the ghost. I replaced it with the M477fdw. Features I look for are laser printing, scanning, and copying. The printing is quicker with good quality. Previously, I scanned to a thumb drive and then transferred it to the computer; now I can scan to an email and all the interim steps are eliminated. Previously, double-sided copies required removing the sheets and putting them in the paper tray to print the second side; now, the printer does double-sided printing automatically. I am most pleased with my new M477fdw printer and recommend it as a great solution for those looking for a four function laser printer.

This isn’t a bad printer. Had to return the first one as it didn’t work. But this one seems to be doing okay. The features are okay. I had a 7410 which lasted 18 years and is still going but hard to find ink. So had to buy a new printer. I just hope this printer will last as long and be as good a “workhorse” as it. The only thing I am not happy with on this printer is it does not scan or copy legal which the 7410 does. Outside of that, not a bad printer.

I bought this printer for my 2 small business and it has been great!!! However; I printed out colored address labels and they faded and smeared easily. I bought a name band label not the off brand hoping that that would help the quality. So I am not sure to blame the label or the printer for this happening. Other than that my only hope is that my ink last a full year and does not dry out.
