So I didn’t even realize this had a light until after using mine for the first time. The one I tried in the store before purchasing mine had a defective light, or at least a dead battery. So I was surprised when I saw it for the first time and then not surprised when I went to use it the next time and the light didn’t come on. Since I didn’t purchase it for the light, my opinion on the mechanical fingers part is that they are solid for the money. I’d pay the same price again for the same set even if the light was defective. A better brand would cost you at least three times the cash.

So I like this tool, I bought it to retrieve a fallen screw out of a motorcycle tank.the screw was aluminum, so a magnet wouldn’t pick it upI figured this was cheap enough that if the gas killed the light, it was no big deal.It worked perfectly, I could see the screw in the dark tank, and pick it up.no effect from the gas. However, I did get some corrosion in the handle on the spring under the batteries. I have cleaned it like 2 times already, I added a little dielectric grease this last time.I do wish it had an on off switch on the side, in my tool bag, the handle gets pushed a little and the light comes on. I am on my second set of batteries because of this, I only bought this in July 2018.overall good tool.

Seems to be well-made for the price. The light works good in dark areas. The plunger on the handle needs to be pressed straight down or it won’t work. It makes it difficult to operate when one hand is maneuvering the tip and the other hand is trying to work the plunger and keeping it straight, Not that easy to do. The shaft is flexible and stiff like spring steel. I was hoping the shaft would flex and hold the shape I put it in to reach difficult areas. It’s does work but I would look for one that works a little better.

Being a wheelchair bound paraplegic, I use many different styles of gabbers and/or pickup tools. This tool serves a unique purspose for me, allowing me to pick up dropped items from the floor that can’t be accomplished with traditional grabbers.. ie. coins, credit cards, cell phones with slick curved cases. etc. I have had to trade in my pickup tool at the home depot twice in the last 2 months because the top portion keeps breaking off. This product needs to be beefed up at the top to resist bending/breaking.
