The Husky Gimbal Ratchet is not just your ordinary palm ratchet; its innovative design provides multidirectional rotation for easier access in hard to reach areas. The 100-tooth internal ratcheting mechanism allows the Gimbal Ratchet to engage fasteners with as little as a 3.6⁰ rotation. The Husky Gimbal Ratchet is the perfect tool for high speed and low torque applications even in the most confined areas.
- Ideal for high speed low torque applications
- Gyroscopic design pivots on 2 plains giving you access where ratchets and wrenches cannot
- Ball detent helps to secure the socket to the ratchet
- 100-tooth design allows for a fine 3.6° swing arch
- Fits in the palm of your hand
- Works with Husky 3/8 in. drive sockets
- Meets or exceeds ANSI standards
- Call 1-888-HD-HUSKY for customer service and support.

I was looking to upgrade my ½” ratchet to one that could advance the ratchet pawl in smaller increments. This is sometimes very useful when confronted with tight quarters where it is nearly impossible to engage a fastener with your socket unless you are able to rotate it just a few degrees. From that perspective, this ratchet does an admirable job. This is especially helpful when the ratchet handle is longer than normal (as it is here), making it even more challenging to swing the handle in close quarters. Of course, the extra length provides better leverage too.Although the product appears to be well-constructed of heavy duty metal components, I wish the handle had been designed to be more slip-resistant. For example, a cross-hatch etching on the handle would help shed oil/liquids from the surface of the handle making it easier to grip. The quick-release button is a thoughtful design feature, and worked well to help me easily release stubbornly seated sockets.Indeed it is a longer handle than a standard ratchet, but I don’t understand the “low-profile head” labeling because it seemed to be about the same depth as my standard ratchet (see picture). This is a nice tool to complement your ½” socket set.

This 1/2 inch drive 100-Position Low-Profile, Long Handle Ratchet by Husky is a really nice tool that will get used often and will make a really nice addition to anyone’s tool collection. It is very heavy duty and feels like it should last a long time. The extra long handle length will give that extra torque that is needed on that stubborn nut and bolt.

Excellent, good looking, good quality product. Nice tool, very efficient movement. The extra long length is very useful and makes it easier to remove difficult bolts. Good weight and feels very sturdy. However, would be better if the grip were thicker in diameter. People with large hands may find this a problem because it feels like it’s falling out of your hands.

It might seem like it’s not that helpfully and so did I at first but I wanted to get it just to try and it has actually helped in a lot of situations

Feels very firm in the hand, no slippage. Love the micro movements of the 100 teeth and the any-angle position the gimbal provides. I haven’t seen that kind of movement in any other palm ratchet. Really comes in handy for some awkward angle longer bolt turning.

Quality feel and with 100 positions it works well in tight spaces.

I have used stubby ratchets for a long time and enjoy the maneuverability of them in tight spaces. There are instances though where even a 1/4″ stubby ratchet is too long and for those times this is a great tool. The palm ratchet grip feels ergonomic and fits nicely in my hand, the 100-position ratcheting mechanism lets me still turn fasteners even when I can’t move my hand much, and best of all for me is the gimbal which allows me to approach a fastener at an angle and still be able to remove it. I am very happy with this addition to my toolbox and suspect it will be my new go to in stead of my 1/4″ drive stubby which isn’t as favorable to higher torque demands.

Good to get in tight spaces.

It is a 100-tooth ratchet and can be used in tight areas which is nice. The drive tang is pretty loose in the head and the socket release is sticking. Maybe a bad spring behind the ball. I’m going to try shooting some light oil or lithium grease in there to see if that will help. Very Chinese made

Proved to be the perfect tool for the job, glad I decided to get it along with the sockets I needed!

My review will be a comparison of this versus my other large department store ratchet. This product is heavier than my current 1/2″ ratchet, 12″ versus 10-1/4″ long, engages immediately rather than after a small lag, has a recessed as opposed to a protruding ratchet release, has a barrel shaped as opposed to a flat handle, and has a head profile of 3/4″ rather than 7/8″. I assume this 1/8″ shaving is why it is called low profile. It is black except for the ratchet connection and reverse switch which are unpainted steel. It comes in a package that could be reused as a hanging holder if you are so inclined.

As the title states, this gimbal ratchet seems a little gimicky at first but once in use, proves it’s worth. The all 4 axis movement does allow it to pivot and get into tight places a normal ratchet and find hard to access.Only downfall is that there is not enough grip strength to undo tight fasteners but this is true of all palm ratchets and not a fault of this one.

This is not truly ‘job tested’ yet; I bought and gave it as a Christmas gift. It appeared to be awesome – to the point that as soon as I get a report from the recipient, I plan to go back and get one for myself. We’ll see…

Good to have for those jobs where you just can’t swing a wrench.

Smooth and seems well built. Havnt put it through the riggers yet

Bought this little guy when I saw it; was thinking primarily of the spark plug change I was getting ready to do. Really like the concept. The design could be improved with the addition of vertical serrations added around the thumb wheel. When it gets oily, it is very slippery.Anyway; mine lost its ratcheting ability on spark plug number 5 of 6. Have no idea why; I was only removing a plug when loosened, and then starting the new plugs. No difficulty factor whatsoever.I opened the top of the ratchet to see if there was anything obviously wrong, but the internal design made no sense to me.I’ll return it and get another.
