Pass-through sockets do a unique job. Like those very desirable hollow shank nut drivers, these tools permit running nuts down long studs. But in a superior fashion, these sockets allow one to address large diameter studs and threaded rods – as well as virtually infinite lengths. Most common sizes are available in this set. The ratchet is fine-toothed so that encumbered swings can be tolerated – down to 5-degrees. That is a big advantage for congested spaces. The tool also possesses a comfortable and ergonomic grip. Its profile is easy to clean and handsome enough to evoke pride in one’s tools. When the socket is engaged within the head, the tool height is reduced – another great clearance gain. Stout ribs secure the socket within the head. They engage quickly without fumbling when setting up the tool. The socket can inserted from either ratchet face – so one need not flip the ratchet handle over to prefer operating the pawl switch with either thumb (right side up) or forefinger (right side down). The style and finish of these tools is impressive. I also appreciate their heft (and perceived strength). They will occupy a prominent space in my tool cabinet.

The 3/8 in. Drive Universal Pass-Thru Starter Set (11-Piece) is a great rachet set as well as easy to use in tough places. It is very sturdy and the rachet handle moves easily with no strain on your wrists or hands which is important to older persons, The pass through feature is great and makes longer bolts and nuts easier for loosening and tightening. I would recommend to anyone.

This pass-thru drive starter set comes with a 3/8″ ratchet and 5 each SAE and Metric sockets; note that the sockets are specific to the drive size, in this case 3/8″, as there is also a Metric version. The set’s sockets are those I would expect to see the most use … SAE (7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8, 3/4), Metric (10, 12, 13, 14, 15) … and lock solidly into the toothed ratchet. I expect this to last a long, long time … hence it carries a Husky lifetime warranty. As an added bonus, when the sockets are attached, the profile is slightly shorter than that of a traditional ratchet drive set allowing better access to tight quarters.I would recommend this product.

I was recently assembling a wall-mount shelving unit where I could really have used this pass-through wrench set in places where long sockets wouldn’t work. The special sockets snap into the ratchet handle from either side; the handle has a reversing lever. Both the handle and the sockets are very well made and the sockets have sizes laser-etched, though I found them a bit hard to read.Probably my only gripe isn’t about the set itself, but that the sockets won’t fit in a typical socket organizer and I don’t see one offered that fits these.
