I was a bit concerned about the vertical layout of these socket holders. I wasn’t sure that they would fit vertically in my tool box drawers. Well it turns out that they fit just fine. My 3/8″ and 1/2″ sockets belong in a deep drawer while my 1/4″ sockets go in a shallow drawer. The 1/4″ rack is shorter than the other two racks so it still fits even in a shallow drawer. These racks are replacing magnetic racks. I had issues with the magnetic racks picking up all sorts of tools in their drawer. One of the biggest advantages of these holders is the socket size clearly delineated on the top. Super easy to grab the right socket first try.

These are nice trays. The fitment is true. They’re the style that has the sockets upside down with the base fitting the size of the bolt drive end. This allows you to read the size marking on the socket, but that’s not necessary as it’s clearly painted on the post itself.I’d say nothing particularly spectacular about these, but they look good, fit perfect, are well made, and reasonably priced. A step up from the ones I’ve seen at a competitor that I had to modify to get certain sockets to fit.Buy these and you won’t have issues or be disappointed.Notes:If you have a standard deep drawer at the top of your box, even the 1/2” will fit fine. They are sturdy enough to carry around loaded. The sockets will not fall off either.

SUMMARY: A nice set, comparable to others on the market, but didn’t meet my needsBACKGROUND: I have well over 100 SAE sockets in different drive sizes and type. Organizing them has always been a concern. I have tried keeping them loose in tools drawers, on different tool rails, on magnetic racks, and in socket racks. The Husky Metric Socket Rack Set looked like it would help organize them.FIT AND FINISH: The material, construction, and appearance seem comparable to other similar products I already own.FEATURES: From the Home Depot page, with my comments as appropriate.• Includes 3 racks designed for 1/4 in., 3/8 in. and 1/2 in. drive sizes, which hold 26, 26 and 28 sockets total, respectively. o Each rack has the most common sizes and the posts are tall enough to stick above sockets so you can quickly identify the size you want to pull.• Fits standard or deep sockets down over the pegs and use the size markers printed on each pegs top to find the right socket for any fastener.• Vertical storage design allowing for storage in limited spaceo This is true, to some extent, for this type of socket rack. But they are not the most compact method for storing sockets. Socket rails are much more compact. Also, you must have a 4” deep drawer for the ½” rack. My socket drawer was too shallow.• Sturdy, break resistant pegs for durabilityo These are not unbreakable, but they are ok for use in a tool chest drawer.• Pegs have size marking for easy socket identificationo This is the best feature of this style of socket rack. The pegs stick up proud of the socket and the size is stamp/painted onto the end. Easy to read the sizes.• 1/4 in. drive peg size range from 3/16 in. to 5/8 in.o Some smaller sockets would not fit over the posts, but they were cheaper sockets.• 3/8 in. drive peg size range from 1/4 in. to 1 in.• 1/2 in. drive peg size range from 3/8 in. to 1-1/4 in.• Lifetime warranty with no questions, no receipt requiredo This is another good selling point for the Husky brand. Bring a broken tool in and they will give you a new one.INSTALLATION/USE: I took sockets from several other types of socket holders and populated the holders. Unfortunately, the ½” rack requires a 4” deep drawer but my SAE socket drawer is too shallow. These types of racks also have a much larger footprint than socket rails. With the number of sockets I have in the drawer I could not have used the ½” drive rack anyway. For the 3/8” and ¼” racks I did use it is much easier to pull out the socket I need now without having to grab one and read it to get the right one. The downside is, with multiples of the common sockets (1/4”, 5/16”, 7/16”, and ½”) this type of rack has no way to keep them together. So, I still end up with multiple holders. At least I can grab the first one without looking too hard.SUMMARY: This helped me organize my SAE sockets better than they were. I think the two I used will work for me. PROS: Easy to read, sturdyCONS: Needs 4” drawer, takes up room, some smaller sockets wouldn’t fit over the pegs.

The Husky 3 piece socket rack set does a great job keeping sockets organized both in drive size with the 3 different sized trays (1/2″, 3/8″, and 1/4″ drive) and also ordered large to small (left to right). I love how the pegs stick above the sockets so you can read the size, saves time getting the right size the first time. My ONE complaint is on the 3/8″ tray, the 1/4″ peg is a bit thicker than the center hole on my husky 1/4″ socket. I may take a bit of sand papper and make the peg a little thinner so the socket fits. While the trays are sturdy to pick up and walk around with, I dont plan to move them from my tool box too much since they are made of plastic and the sockets are heavy. Bottom line, this is a great way to store and keep sockets organized and still be able to quickly find and grab ehat you need. I am very pleased with my purchase!

Husky SAE Socket Rack Set (3-Piece) solves the problem of stray sockets in quite often overcrowded, unorganized tool boxes. This set is designed to be used for SAE sockets, 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 inch drives. The trays are dense plastic, and lettering and digits are embossed and painted white, clear and easy to read. SAE trays are black, to differentiate from Metric, which are molded in gray. The sockets fit perfectly over the trays. Trays fit both standard and deep sockets. Made in Taiwan, these trays come with a lifetime warranty from Husky.Good quality. Easy to use. Easy to load and remove sockets. You couldn’t ask for a better way to organize all your sockets in a tool draw or bench.I rate these 5*s out of 5.Thank you Husky / Ames Tools for allowing me to try your products.Thank you Home Depot Seeds for offering this item to me.

Fits all my sockets. I like the fact it has the sizing label on top. I don’t have to guess anymore for the sockets I want to use.
