Just got these within the last two weeks. I’ve always figured I could make due with my socket set. But sometimes all you want to do is reach into your tool drawer or tool bag and grab the real tool you need. I learned my lesson when I had a socket on the end of the screw driver type handle with the square head for the socket, and of course it came loose, and fell off. Well wouldn’t you know it, it fell straight down into a chain link fence post (the cap was missing!) Needless to say, it was bye bye. So anyhow, If I was using one of these, hopefully it would not have fallen down the fence post. The quality of these seem to be very good. I’m happy. You will be too.

This Metric nut driver set has handles that are made of a soft touch, textured rubbery material instead of the usual acetate/hard plastic material. They grip well even feeling a bit sticky with normally dry hands. With wet or sweaty hands they seem to grip somewhat better than the hard plastic grips. The hex shape has good, sharp edges and is well centered in the socket. The tool appears to be quite stout. The plastic case they arrive in can be used to store the nut drivers and can be hung on the wall, if desired. It’s not made of very thick plastic. So I’m not sure how long it would last. The only negative I find is that the hole that’s drilled in the shaft to allow for use with studs is not very deep. It’s only about 1/2 inch deep beyond the end of the hex shape. So, if you need to drive a 1 inch stud you can’t do it with these nut drivers. Some of my older nut drivers have a shaft that is hollow for its entire length, and, thus, can be used to drive nearly any stud. This is why I give only four stars instead of five.

Today we were replacing the dim CFL lighting in my shop/garage/man cave with high output LED fixtures. It involved a lot of one handed work on the top of a ladder, holding the fixture up with one hand and driving the fasteners with the other. The last four machine screws would have been nearly impossible using a regular socket wrench with an extension. I used a dollop of grease to hold the fasteners in the socket while I reached above my head. This is a seven nut driver set from 5mm to 11mm. Just right for size, weight and feel in your hand. Anything bigger would require more leverage than you can twist with your wrist, and anything smaller really belongs in a fine detail set. I’ve stopped buying toolsets that don’t come with a nice way to store, organize and carry around the tools. I like to hang things on my pegboard walls or keep in a tool drawer. This set comes in a nice organizer/carrier/keeper that will look good on my wall and keep things close at hand when I’m under my car/lawnmower/boat blindly fumbling for the right tool without having to get up. (Yes, I’ve spent many hours under my late lawn tractor noodling the tranny, replacing belts and bearings.) The bottom of the grips have a nice big, high-contrast size label and are formed to not roll away when set on a sloped surface. I like the durometer of the cushion grip and how they rounded the bottom of the grip just right for driving fasteners/nuts. They look good too. 5 stars for an excellent product!

I compared this set of Husky metric nutdrivers to my Craftsman SAE USA made nutdrivers that I have owned for decades. As DYIer they do not see daily service, I usually get them out to service home appliances and electronics. The plastic of the most commonly used drivers show some wear and scratches but the drivers are almost like new. These Husky drivers look to have slightly less robust construction, The walls of the drivers and the shafts do not appear as thick. That being said when I tested a couple of drivers I had no trouble getting a good purchase on the bolts and nuts I tried. In fact there was a 10mm bolt that I was not able to break with the driver but that was due to rust and the lack of leverage, the tool preformed well. I also have to say that the shape of the grip is comfortable in the hand allows for maximum torque to be applied. I also appreciated the size stamped on the top of each grip.I also found the package to be interesting. First it is reusable, you can store the drivers in the package. Second the package was sealed with drywall screws, thought that was a unique idea.

Most of my nut drivers or heads are imperial. It makes sense here in the us. I never considered getting a metric tools before. But now smaller machinery is imported from China and they have metric system. For large diameters you can still get away with imperial. But for smaller nuts differences between imperial and metric are just too big. With this said I like this set. Even though it’s not a ratchet 1/4 heads, but rather a set of nut drivers, handles are large enough to offer a good grip and you don’t need a lot of torque as for small nuts it’s easy to strip a thread. I use this set to maintain my sportsman chainsaw, ryobi trimmer and even my son’s hsp nitro car. It has a glow plug and supplied plug wrench didn’t fit, but 8mm husky nut driver fit perfectly.

I think the biggest thing I really like about these tools is the fact that the handles are really comfortable and really have a good grip when you need it.It even comes with a nifty carry case and as you can see you can actually put them on your tool wall as everything is labeled. Just snapped the door open and grab what you need.To get the door open there’s a little weird set up in the back of the case. I’ve shown photos to display that you’ll have to remove two screws to get the door open after the side tie wrap is cut from the lever handle. But all in all these are great tool buddies. Nicely done!

Here are the best things about this 7-piece set:- The packaging itself is the carrying case, and each slot is labeled with size in order. The carrying case would hang nicely on a peg board, but I will say the case looks and feels cheap. If you drop the case, I guarantee it’ll split apart. Plus, the plastic slot for the smallest sized nut driver isn’t molded to the optimum size. So, instead of snapping in, it’s loose. That size usually hangs down about a 1/2” lower than all the others in your set, which just doesn’t look like top quality. Anyway, to open the case, it is as simple as releasing a latch. When it first arrives, however, you’ll need to cut off two tiny zip ties from the side, and remove two screws through the backside. Dispose of the zip ties and screws- The nut drivers have a deep and hollow shaft, to accommodate taller fasteners- Each nut driver is labeled with its size, on the bottom- The handles provide exceptional grip, are beefy enough to provide sufficient torque, and have both a cushion grip and ergonomic shape (feels good in your hand)- Robust construction- Great matte black finish on the handle, and zero scuffs in the chrome polish- Corrosion resistanceLike many Husky products, these nut drivers come with a lifetime warranty. It is as simple as calling up Husky, and providing your details. For those who care, these are a product of Taiwan, and finished in China.

After my service in Vietnam and while I attended college I worked as a Honda motorcycle mechanic. I used the Husky Metric Cushion Grip Nut Driver Set to work on several 1960’s and 1970’s Honda motorcycles that I’m restoring. The nut drivers were very useful in removing old parts and with installation of restored or new replacement parts. The tools work great and the soft handles were easy on the hands. My only complaint is the the plastic holder for the nut drivers is not very user friendly. You should not try to open it if it is not laying flat on a surface or the tools will drop out when it is opened.

I really like these Nut Drivers. They come in the most popular sizes. They come in a nice carrying case that you can keep in your Tool box to keep them organized, and from getting mixed up in your drawer. The Handles are nicely padded, and are comfortable for long term use, unlike other drivers that have a hard Plastic grip and can hurt your hand and cause Blisters. The Blades of the Drivers are Chrome plated, and this will prevent rust, and assure a good grip on the Fastener. These Drivers have a hollow shaft to allow you to get to nuts on a longer threaded shaft. These Drivers also have the size markings on the end of the Handle to allow fast/ easy identification. I would recommend this product for either Home use , or at Work if you are a Professional.
