Good value, but it would be nice if case had a handle. Also need adapter (included) to use the smaller size sockets.

This review is for the Husky Model # HUV33MTS 1/4 in. and 3/8 in. drive mechanics tool set.I had the opportunity to acquire the tool set and thought it would be a nice addition to the tools in my garage. The set is, of course, by Husky and carry a lifetime warranty. All of the tools are chrome plated and have a nice fit and finish. The set includes:(1) 3/8 in. drive ratchet. (10) standard 1/4 in. drive universal sockets (from 6mm through 10mm and from 1/4″ through 7/16″). (10) standard 3/8 in. drive universal sockets (from 11mm through 15mm and 1/2″ through 3/4″). (10) Universal combination wrenches (from 10mm through 15mm and from 5/16″ through 9/16″). (1) 3 in. extension bar (3/8″ drive). (1) 3/8 to 1/4 in. drive adapter. The sockets are not “deep well” sockets, but rather of standard depth. The ratchet features a ‘quick release’ button and offers a 72-tooth drive that needs, according to the specifications from Husky, only a 5 degree arc. The ratchet is 8 1/2″ in length, and weighs 10.1 ounces according to our kitchen scale. The entire kit comes housed in a plastic box, which is embossed with raised lettering indicating where the various tools go (see photo). Unfortunately the lettering is the same color as the case, making it somewhat difficult to see the letters. Perhaps a touch of white nail polish or some such would improve the readability. Not a down check, but something to consider. The plastic box is constructed so that when the lid is closed the tools are kept in their place – there is no ‘falling out of place’ even with the smallest bits and pieces. The box is hinged on one side with swivel hinges, not a plastic piece that will eventually wear out and break. It is kept closed by two latches, either one of which seems capable of securing the lid. There is a small hole that will accept a VERY small lock – or perhaps a zip tie or safety wire to keep the lid absolutely secure, as when traveling in a car trunk, to keep things from falling out.One note on the box – Husky has attached labels to each side of the box, one showing the Husky logo and the obverse side showing the tools that are included in the kit. The labels are a trudge to remove – plan on having some Goo-Be-Gone or similar solvent if you decide to remove the labels. It’s probably easier just to leave them on.Finally, there is no carry handle on the box. This is a bit unfortunate – a handle would have been…well…handy. As it is the box must be gripped with at lease one hand around the edge and with slippery hands a handle would have been more secure. The tools themselves, both wrenches and sockets, are well made and I think will be serviceable for the long term. The size of each tool is embossed, and is visible on each side of the combination wrenches. On the sockets the embossing might wear out (after prolonged use) but I should think that that would be a cause for a warranty claim. I don’t think I’ll ever give these tools enough use to wear out the logos or lettering.I’ve found this set to be useful in working on my lawnmower (with the exception of the missing spark plug socket!) and on the kid’s bikes. For changing car battery cables it’s just about perfect, but for pulling the battery (on our cars at least) a longer extension to remove the battery hold down bolts would be required. So it is not “the only set you’ll ever need” – but it is, nevertheless, a nice kit of frequently used sizes. I had an “el-cheapo” set in my garage for small jobs that will now go to a new owner – the Husky set is a worthy replacement.HTHRegards,Jim

RE: Husky 1/4 in. and 3/8 in. Drive Universal Mechanics Tool Set (33-Piece)A great set of tools for home and DIY use. It has a variety of sockets ranging in size from 1/4″ to 3/4″, metric sockets from 6 to 15 and wrenches 5/16″, 3/8″, 7/16″, 1/2″ and 9/16″. Metric wrenches included are 10, 12, 13, 14 and 15.The case is plastic and appears to be durable with compartments for each tool.Tools come with a lifetime warranty that is honored at HD stores.

Nice little “just get me home” kit to throw under the seat.I really like this kit, ’cause it doesn’t have so many useless bits and hexes, thatin reality you’ll never use, and loose. Plus increase case size. This actually has a nice selection of wrenches, along with the universal design socket. You can actually do basic roadside “oh crap!” type repairs with this, likeBattery swap, thermostat, waterpump, etc. Things that are most likely to happen to you. Add a multi-bit screwdriver to your glovebox, and this will get you home 95% of the time. As a side note:I bought 3 of these. 1 for each vehicle, and another as a gift.I actually just opened one of these to change a voltage regulator. No biggie, 30 second job. Needed the 3/8in socket. The smaller sockets in this kit are 1/4 drive. So there is a adapter from 3/8drive to 1/4 drive.Looking around, I realized my kit, just opened, did NOT have this coupler!I was actually in my driveway, so I wasn’t stranded, but if I had been…!!I’ve owned this kit for about a year and never opened it. Open your set and check your set! Bottom line.I reluctantly called customer service, and talked to a very helpful Joan. She said no problem, the missing piece will be shipped to you.Amazing customer service!I will continue to buy Husky tools for this reason. H.Depot has always treated me very well.

Great product, I wasn’t even aware husky had a multi fastener set like this. I saw it for a great price and grabbed a set. Happy I did keep it in the truck. Already helped out multiple individuals that were in a bind. I figured if I could help one person that was stranded or in need of help, the product paid for itself. Well passed my expectations and I’m only 2 months in.

This is a pretty decent trunk kit, or especially a homeowner kit. For this sale price it is phenomenal. My kit was made in Taiwan, not China like the larger kits. Means nothing, just an observation.
