A huge improvement for drilling larger diameter holes. I drilled (32) 7/8” diameter holes through 1/4” flat steel bar in a few hours.

Have been doing total renovation of a kitchen and bathroom/shower in a house built in the early 1900’s. The walls are 1/4 inch plaster over 1 inch concrete over very heavy duty steel mesh. Had to drill numerous holes for plumbing and electrical upgrades. These bits drilled very clean holes thru all of it as if it was butter. And, still as sharp as when I got them. I don’t believe I own any other bits that could drill a perfect hole thru those walls. WELL worth having.

Using in a machine tool electrical assembly field. These are efficient and quick for 1/2″, 3/4″ and 1″ conduit and fittings. So far very pleased. Curious on longevity.

elwood-first response to the question-no-these 1/4 pilot bits are not your normal pilot bit like most holesaws-these are only matbe 2 inches long with a special tip and a spring to throw out the knockout-part #36-312-ideal-available on ebay-grainger-web

Getting my winter projects ready and needed a hole saw that would work for metal. I make a few bluebird boxes every winter to place on our farm. Many of the larger birds chip out the holes for the bluebirds and use the boxes. This year I decided I would take care of that! After construction of the boxes out of treated wood, I then cut 4X4 pieces out of some scrap sheet metal I had laying around. I then used the hole saws to cut 1 3/8″ hole in the center of the piece. Drilled 4 screw pilot holes and then placed over the entry in the bird house! No more chipping. The hole saw cut 6 pieces in no time – easy as could be. The only problem I had was ejecting the metal after a few cuts, the metal became hot and I think there was some expansion.I see this set coming in very handy for more projects this winter!

I have used these bits several times. They cut through steel like butter with the slightest effort. You will not be disappointed by this purchase. This could be an electricians best friend when having to drill holes for 1/2,3/4, or 1 inch connections.

These Ideal carbide hole saws make perfect 7/8, 1 1/8 and 1 3/8 inch holes for ½, ¾ and 1 inch EMT connections to any sheet metal enclosure. They bore through stainless, mild steel, iron plate, brass and aluminum with surprising speed and ease. The stepped pilot helps avoid walking and keeps the center where you want it. The peripheral ridge limits the depth of penetration to ½ inch and the spring around the pilot helps to eject the plug. Overall this is a very nicely designed tool. Be sure to run at the recommended low speed and to use the side handle on your drill.

The kit is exactly what’s needed to do the job. I bought it to cutconduit holes in fiberglass boxes. Carbide teeth are the only ones that past.
