It is unlike most cast iron pieces. This is like the traditional cast iron pieces, but muchlighter and so easy to handle. It is made of aluminum construction and most certainly can be usedfor so many different dishes. This is a great pot for soups, stews, beans, rice, meats or anything youwant to cook in it. You can use this on your stove top, on a grill or in your oven without the lid.You cannot put the lid in the oven. The side handles are made of stainless steel and are very easy to grip. I love my 6 quart light-weight cast iron pre-seasoned dutch oven by IMUSA, and I know you willtoo. I use it almost everyday and clean up is a breeze. I never use it with my oven temperature set anyhigher than 350 degrees, and no glass lid. If you would like to see it and read more about it, go to the Home Depot website and the model is LCI-19009. I almost forgot to mention, you also get a really nice IMUSA denim chef’s apron with this dutchoven. I have a picture showing what it looks like.

I purchased the IMUSA 6 Qt. Lightweight Cast Iron Pre-Seasoned Dutch Oven with Glass Lid because cast iron is the way to go in versatility. It works well in any cooking environment. The real benefit of this dutch oven is the fact that it is pre-seasoned and light weight instead of the old heavy cast iron pots of the past that had to be treated or used many times before it was well-seasoned. It is perfect for simmering foods like stews and soups over a long cooking time. My family loves beans and rice and homemade spaghetti sauce. This pot can go from stovetop to oven with no effects on the pot itself. Of course, the glass lid cannot go in the oven but the pot could be covered with foil or a metal lid. This pot is a good size for frying as well. This 6 qt. size works well for our family. I highly recommend it; you won’t be disappointed when you see the true quality of this product.

The Imusa Dutch oven makes it a breeze to cook meats, stews and much more. I like that it is pre seasoned and ready for use. The glass lid makes it easy to see what your cooking. It is very light which makes handling it easy. The stainless handles are the right size when your handling it and allow you to use it in the oven. The material it’s made of, promote even heat distribution. I also like that it is easy to clean. They also included an apron and a thank you card!

I received the IMUSA lightweight cast iron dutch oven and could not be happier with my choice. It’s very lightweight but don’t let that fool you. It still does the job of a heavier dutch oven but gets the heat quicker. I used it to make a pot of beans and it cooked them just right. Nice even heat across the bottom. It came pre-seasoned with a see thru glass lid. I’m not sure about how clear a view you’ll get because of the steam on the inside of the lid while it’s cooking so you still end up having to remove the top if you want to actually see how it’s looking as it cooks. I like my new dutch oven !

Fairly good for the price. It seems very well-made, not too heavy. This size is very versatile. I use it for cooking rice, deep frying, stir frying etc. However, some coating disappear after light scrubbing use steel wood. So I give 3 stars. No big deal, one can always re-season it again.

Recently we began eliminating coated pots and pans in favor of lightweight cast iron after noticing scratches of Teflon on the bottom of pans and were concerned about it ending up in the food and our internal systems. Welcome Imusa products! An awesome line of lightweight pots, pans and various cooking items that with minimal care, will cook any foods excellent, get better with time, and will last almost forever. This 6 QT. Dutch oven is a perfect hardworking pot for any kitchen and its size is great for anything from boiling pasta to potatoes, making soups and stews,to braising meats and can even be used in the oven. The sturdy glass lid fits snugly on the pot and has a vent hole for steam to escape. The handles on the pot itself are secured with bolts that will probably stay on forever.I am a big Quinoa eater and this makes it a breeze to make and cooks it perfectly with no sticking. We also have previously purchased a few of their other pans, like the wok that is another awesome-must have/go to utensil for any kitchen. The pots/pans are preseasoned so the guesswork is removed and all you need to do is rinse with warm soapy water before first use and after each use thereafter simply wipe with a scant amount of oil to maintain the efficacy of the surface. Cast iron is naturally nonstick when seasoned correctly and can always be reseasoned if necessary. It is NOT recommended for dishwasher cleaning because the harsh detergents will remove the seasoning. Believe it or not we actually removed the dishwasher from our kitchen several years back and only hand wash now so for us it is simple. And because it is cast iron there is no longer any fear of scratching any Teflon and getting micro pieces into our foods. Sometimes going’old school’ is best and simple and any items from Imusa in your home is smart, easy and great way to make all types of food!

This 6 quart dutch oven is just like the one grandma used to have with a few modern conveniences added. It is a lighter weight cast iron with a porcelain mix. It comes pre-seasoned with natural soybean oil, so you don’t have to season it yourself. It can be used stove-top and in the oven. It has a clear glass lid to see your recipe cooking. Also comes with a cloth bag for storage.

I couldn’t wait to use this very attractive Dutch Oven upon arrival. It came with a very interesting recipe but will use it in the future. I made a soup which was quick and turned out yummy. I love the glass top making it easy to see the food instead of having to remove the lid to check on the food. I found cleaning was easy for both the pot and the glass lid.
