I have two LG monitors that take both HDMI and DisplayPort (DP), so I purchased this to run my new M1 Macbook Pro 16 into one of the monitors (I didn’t want to use a separate adapter). I plan to purchase a CalDigit dock and expect to use this cable with it. The connection was straightforward, and the cable worked right away without any need to download a driver. The image resolution on the monitor appears to be 4K 60 Hz, and there doesn’t seem to be any slowdown. The cable seems well constructed. The ends feel like they are made of metal and hold the cable well. The connectors feel secure (no noticeable play) when plugged into each device. The DisplayPort end doesn’t have the locking mechanism you find on other DP cables, which doesn’t affect my needs, but may be a consideration for others reading this review. I especially like the stiff (practically solid) strain relief on each connector – these seem like they will help prevent issues with bent, twisted, or pulled wires. The length fits my needs. I gave this four stars because it’s a cable and I’m not sure what would excite me about it – perhaps I would consider giving it five stars if it lasts several years. Also, the description states that these cables will work on 8k monitors, though I don’t have anything with that level resolution, so I can’t speak to that spec. Given my limited experience so far, though, I would look at purchasing more cables from IOGear.
