Apparently, pretty much any USB device needs a powered hub, which this is NOT. Neither my backup USB drive, my USB printer, nor my Motu USB audio/midi box show up when plugged into this thing. My iLok does but 1 out of 4 is not very helpful. Once again, you get what you pay for.

I needed some extra ports on my work laptop as I have not received a docking station yet. No brain install. Note I could not use my Webcam and Jabra Headset at the save time as apparently they both want to draw a lot of power. But I have the cam, a Logitech dongle, webcam light, and USB stick all on the hub with no problems. Highly recommend.
