The USB 3.0 to 4K HDMI Display Adapter from j5create acts as an external video card for your system, which allows you to attach additional displays via HDMI. This adapter supports three viewing modes, including Primary Mode for individual applications open on each monitor, Extended Mode for extending your desktop across multiple displays, and Mirroring Mode is for cloning one screen onto another.
With the USB 3.0 to 4K HDMI Display Adapter you simply load the drivers, plug in the adapter to the USB Type-A port, then plug the HDMI monitor cable into the adapter and you’re ready to get to work. j5create employs plug-and-play functionality between your computer and second monitor or projector to create a new visual environment in seconds.

I had a USB 2.0 that lagged video. I watch netflix with this and totally forgot it is coming through a USB cable!

I can game on mine, no lag as a 3rd monitor to do surround in World of Tanks (WoT). I have a Lenovo Y510P with 2 GeForce 750m cards, and the laptop has 1 HDMI and 1 VGA port, both go to my Samsung T27B350 TV/Monitors running at 1080p@60. I have a Desktop that I actually run 6 of those Samsung monitors with 2 video cards. Since I choose to rebuild my Desktop, I have been using my laptop in the meanwhile. I wanted to use 3 monitors so I could game with peripheral vision, since World of Tanks supports 120′ FOV. While my center and right monitors are handled by the laptop video ports, I was short 1 port to do 3 displays. I initially used a KWorld USB2-2-DVI, and that even worked, but there was noticeable lag. Since I only use about 1/3 of the side monitor, this was possible. If I tried to use the entire screen, this might have been bad, but for my purposes and this game, it was acceptable. Since I saw they released USB3-2-DVI, I figure it could only be faster. they were right, now using 1/3 of my left side monitor, and there is almost no lag, I would have to be looking for it to even notice. It works perfect, so this will work in place of the Matrox TripleHead2Go I was looking at. I will try to see how it handles full screen, but for a partial screen, WoT in 1080p is fine. Hope this helps out someone who is trying to decide if this will work, I think if you wanted to watch full screen videos at 1080p@60 this would handle that no problem at all. David

Works as great, as you would expect. I have 2 — they coexist just fine. For Mac, don’t forget to load drivers first.

This worked for about a week, and then stopped working on my Mac. Then I find on their site they know about the fact it does not work with Mac and offer no other solution that, “sorry our product is garbage.” Way better products out there. So disappointed as our company was going to standardize under J5, but now back to the drawing board.

I have purchased from B&H since 2005 and I have never been so disappointed in a product until now. I purchased this based on numerous online reviews and that it was a USB 3.0 – Mac compatible adapter for under $. It seemed like it would be a good solution to run a second monitor connected to my late model Macbook Air. My setup is two 24 monitors (one connected via thunderbolt) and now the second connected via this adapter. I followed all the directions and installed the driver then plugged in the adapter. I quickly realized that most native OS X apps look like junk on the screen with strange artifacts in the corners and odd coloring. In addition it causes video playback on my thunderbolt connected monitor to flicker to the point of being unwatchable. There is a tremendous amount of lag at times and it honestly behaves like it’s using USB 2.0 not 3.0 as advertised even though their support swears USB 3.0 is supported in Yosemite.

Downloaded the drivers, restarted my computer and connected the devices. No problems. A great solution to lack of port(s).

I tried to use the same company’s MiniDisplay port to Dual HDMI adaptor to extend my desktop (MacBook 2016) but it didn’t work. It only mirrored the desktop on my two monitors. So I bought one of these for one monitor and used a MiniDisplay Port to HDMI adaptor for the other monitor and it solved my problem. So this is a good device if you want to extend your desktop over two monitors.

Works great, I have 3 and no issues for months. Hope they work for years.
