The Skyline S3 includes everything you need to make sewing easier and more enjoyable; it comes with 120 built-in stitches, including 7 one-step buttonholes and 1 alphabet. The stitch quality of the Skyline S3 is excellent and is able to speed up to 820 stitches per minute in a smooth and peaceful operation. Navigation through all of these choices is simple using the backlit LCD screen. Janomes Superior Feed System Plus features a 7-piece feed dog to ensure that even the thickest, multi-layer projects are able to move under the needle with precision and ease. The Skyline S3s patented needle placement accuracy includes special plate markings that indicate needle drop position, provide angle marks and act as front-of-the-foot guides. In addition, the needle can be moved into 71 unique positions in order to get pinpoint accuracy for decorative stitching, applique and free motion quilting.

This machine is easy to use even a novice can use. No amount of attachments are needed to accomplish any task. Its light weight and the folded fabric cover makes it easy to transport anywhere. I have been teaching my daughter to sew and bring this machine to her apartment a lot. She sits at her machine and I at this one (they are not the same machines) and her at hers and do all the instructions from there. Some things just click. In the last month she has made masks for her whole family.

So far it’s been easy to set up and a dream to sew with! Loving all the cool features, like having the option to sew with either presser foot or with stop/start button (still getting used to that one!). Always had problems adjusting tension with old (much cheaper) singer machine and happy with Janome auto tension settings. (See difference in basic stitching as photo)

So far I am loving my Janome Skyline S3 sewing machine. Only thing so far that is confusing for me is me is when I want to buy a walking and free motion foot. I am not sure if I have to use a Janome foot, or if I can use one that says I can use an unbranded one that says certain pressure feet can be used on several different machines including Janome.

Having speed control and being able to move the needle is a huge help! The thread cutting button is great and I have stopped using the foot pedal! The start/stop button is fun!
