Very handy tool to have in your workshop. I do a lot more with metal than with wood and this machine is well suited to that purpose. If you’re looking for a “relatively” inexpensive entry to a solid professional shop floor drill press, you won’t go wrong with this baby. It’s not variable speed, but I couldn’t justify that much money since I’m not a machinist or pro fabricator. The belts a very easy to move across the pulleys. One thing to consider seriously on this model is the size of the table – it’s really big – and that can make a big difference for those unwieldy pieces that need to be drilled accurately. I was able to fiddle with the spindle, arbor and chuck until I could get any straight bit down to around 0.002 runnout. I probably will never need another drill press.
