You don’t have to choose between buying a jointer or a planer. With the JJP-12, you can have both. Leave it to Jet to design a machine that allows quick changeover between jointing and planning functions. This versatile machine features an extra large aluminum extruded fence with centered controls for quick adjustments, a built-in dust chute capable of handling both planning and jointing operations and a powerful 3 HP induction motor that can handle the toughest lumber. A heavy-duty, fully welded steel base cabinet houses the motor and the planer table mechanism, while providing solid mounting for the associated controls and support for the jointer table and fence assemblies. Best of all, the fence can stay put when changing over functions. It’s the best of both worlds and it comes from Jet.

I purchased this combination machine about 3 years ago and have milled about 500 – 1000 board feet through it. – The change over isn’t too bad and only takes about 35 seconds.- Performance has been very nice and i’ve had no issues with it. It comes with a 3HP motor.- Calibration is the part I dislike the most about this machine. If the jointer beds aren’t coplanar, you will have to spend at least half the day getting them coplanar which is frustrating to say the least. I’ve done it twice now because I swapped the head out for a helical head.- Beds are flat, fence will hold at 90 degrees and the dust collection is great. No complaintsOverall I’m happy with this machine. Like I mentioned above, I did swap out the straight knives for a Jet branded helical head. Installation of that was super simple and didn’t even require draining of any oil like some planers. If you are in a garage shop and are limited on floor space, this machine is for you. Just prepare yourselves for the calibration. It’s frustrating, but take your time and you will get dialed in within reason. Don’t expect perfection, just get as close as you can and if it doesn’t throw your boards off, don’t worry about it.

12 in. 12.5-Amp 3HP Planer and Jointer Combo Has plenty of power and for planer not as loud as bench top models I own three . I whish I had bought this one first , does a good job no snip at allCome in a create in great shape I mean no damage at all and out of the create no adjustment need I was very please . The only draw back is it is heavy and it a lot of money for poor woodworker like me but12 inch jointer and planer that does outstanding job I’ll take it .

The Planer works great and is good at dust collection. The Jointer bed is a bit short and dust collection is average. If you have any issues with this unit it is from bad electronics in the on and off switch. Worked for a half hour then quit working. Had it have the on/off switch replaced.
