Drill press went together well only missing one of the set screws for the base, a call to Jet quickly resolved the issue. Pros: Home Depot had the best price period. Was purchased around black friday. Local stores and online stores hundreds more.Led work light.Replaceable insert in table.Laser X.Quiet.Customer support.Cons:Missing set screw delayed use until replacement arrived.

Took a while to get it together and set it up, just procrastination, but it worked out of the box. It took care of issues that I was facing with ease and seems very intuitive. Can’t wait to complete more projects with this item.

I am happy with this drill press. It replaced a Delta 12 inch bench model purchased in the 90’s. It arrived at the Home Depot store within 2 days of placing the order. Store employees helped me load it. Shipping weight was 168 lbs. It is solid and well built. Speed changes are easy. The laser was pretty close and a little fine tuning was all that was needed. It is accomplished with a pair of pliers. Instructions in the manual. Same for leveling the the center plate in the table. The most difficult part of assembly is putting the head on the column. It is heavy and will require assistance. The head probably weighs about 120 lbs. I mounted the the base and column to the cabinet I built and had a couple of guys lift the head while I helped guide them over the column. This was my first large tool purchase via Home Depot. The experience was very good and I will consider using them again. I ordered online and picked up at the store. Home delivery was an option, but store pickup was better for this heavy item. I won’t hesitate to special order online for store pickup again. Already thinking about upgrading my lathe to a Jet.

I’ve used it several times since receiving it a couple of months ago. It’s a sturdy beast and performs very well. I didn’t initially understand how to assemble the rack into the table lift gear and had to watch a video. I didn’t think I needed 2 people as recommended – turns out they were right.I love the big cast iron table. I mounted it on a Dewalt planer mobile stand which is sturdy and works well, but may be a bit too high for some. It’s worth the effort to get everything aligned really well.

Very heavy well made drill press. Very quiet and less than .001 thousands run out on the Chuck.

Overall I really like this drill press, but there was one thing I am unhappy about. There was significant wobble in the chuck, so I removed the arbor and chuck for inspection. The arbor appeared to be poorly machined, so I ordered a new one from McMaster-Carr, and with the new arbor the wobble was reduced by about half. I suspect the remaining wobble is in the chuck, or possibly the quill. At some point I may upgrade the chuck and see if that improves things. I am dissapointed in Jet’s quality control. For the price of this drill, substandard machining is not acceptable.

This drill press delivers on all expectations. It took two people to lift it onto the bench, but that’s a good thing. My only add-ons have been a wood tabletop and a Rockler fence.

Great drill press. I had it shipped to my local HD, which made for a really easy pickup. The table is large and it is easy to add a fence, with the built in T slots. Press is very smooth, a nickel balanced on the table on its edge will not move during startup/shutdown.

Unit is somewhat noisy, changing speeds by moving belts is old school. The depth adjustment is a little cumbersome to set compared to most other drill presses I have used. It is not a bad unit and I’m OK with it. Quality of build is good, nice sturdy drill press.

Being a machinist I have used a lot of different and very high priced equipment, this ranks right up there with them. For a home owners drill press it is a bit of overkill, but regardless this is an extremely well built machine.I love the dual short flat belts and single roller bearing tensioner, (it’s about time someone smarted up and made that).V-belts are for no one, flat/grooved belts are the latest technology and why equipment companies are still using V-belts is beyond me.They rob Horsepower, vibrate and make a lot of noise. The table is large, rotating it isn’t easy, (my only con) I love the replaceable insert in the center of the table (another it’s about time). The unit is extremely heavy due to the fine quality of the machine.I could go on about every detail, but if you are looking for your first or last drill press that you will ever have to purchase then this is the one.The first thing I used mine for was drilling thirty 2.25 holes with a forstner bit, no problem.I am looking forward to finishing my shop so I can set this up for everyday use.
