This lathe is very solid with a wisper quiet motor. It runs throughout the speed range with no vibrations. The centers lign up perfectly. The on off switch is in a better location than my other lathe. The RPM readout is awesome. Reverse switch is something I’m going to love for sanding. I have been turning wood for 68 years and must admit, rhis is the kind of lathe that the operator controls and not the other way around. I wish I had purchased it sooner.

My prior lathe had five fixed speeds. I didn’t realize how limiting fixed speeds were. I love the variable speed control . It allows for a much better turning experience. Although the speed control has a delay before reaching the desired rpm one can easily adapt to the delay. Also, the reverse feature is more helpful then anticipated.

I’ve owned this for a little over a year now, and I love it. Set up was easy and have had no problems with it. I had not turned since high school, I’m 64 now. I bought a set of carbide tools at the same time, and was able to start turning right away. If I do say so myself, (and others do also), I turn out some pretty nice turnings. I’m getting older and downsizing from my big lathe. This one is just about the industry standard for a basic mini-lathe, with tight tolerances, and easy for a beginner to use. Hint – remove the preservative on the ways and tool holder with degreaser so that the tool rest slides easily. Standard sizes, easy to find accessories.
