Introducing the newly redesigned Jet JWDS-1632 Drum Sander from Jet. The innovative tool-less parallelism system keeps adjustments simple. The worktable is easily positioned by a turn of the parallelism dial. The variable-speed rate permits you to choose the optimal feed rate for a full range of projects, while the Jet Sandsmart technology feature continuously monitors the load on the drum motor to prevent an overload situation. The mirrored design of the dust hood optimizes dust collection preventing chips and dust from getting between your work-piece and the finish. The JWDS-1632 Drum Sander delivers everything you need for an effortless finish.
- Sandsmart control continuously monitors the load on the drum motor and automatically regulates the speed of the conveyor motor to maintain the highest feed rate without overload
- Conveyor bed parallelism is easily adjusted by turning the dial on the outside of the bed – no tools required
- Parallelism adjust dial features a stop to quickly return the conveyor bed to a flat position
- Dust hood includes an integrated channel that mirrors the shape of the drum and directs chips and dust to the 4 in. collection port
- Precision-machined and dynamically balanced extruded aluminum drum is designed to dissipate heat and protect the work surface from heat-damage

online order, picked up in store. Received two well packaged, very heavy cardboard boxes boxes that were attached to a pallet with plastic wrap, lots of it. Perfect packaging and shipping. Setup was easy. Took a little getting use to after burning some wood and ripping sandpaper from the drum. totally operator error. Now I understand the importance of a light sanding, tight sandpaper and attaining the correct belt speed to produce great results. Still need to use an orbital sander with very fine grit paper to get the results I am after but this tool saves a lot of handwork sanding end grain cutting boards. Absolutely need to use a dust collector and with a good dust collection system, dust is not an issue at all. Expensive purchase but very glad I made the upgrade. The tool is so well built, nothing flimsy about it. Plugged it in and began working. no adjustments were necessary. I bought and use Jet sandpaper and like it a lot. Switching between grits is simple and takes no time at all. Must check the paper periodically to ensure it stays tight to the drum or you’ll end up like me and ripping paper until you learn proper sanding techniques.

The sander seems a bit pricey at first, however, with free shipping and the improved adjustment features, especially the easy parallel adjustment feature adds value. A few test pieces showed good quality sanding with the provided 80 grit strip. The stand was easy to set up and is heavy duty. Use 2 people to lift the table unit unless you are Hercules. I will use it primarily for sanding end grain cutting boards. Jet has done a fine job of improving their drum sanders; I have wanted one for years and Jet’s design of the 16-32 convinced me to buy one.

Been wanting one of these for a while. This unit met my expectations. I use it for guitar making to bring stock down to very thin dimensions. Works great on figured wood. It does pull a pretty good power load, so the unit will only run on a dedicated 20 amp circuit.
