Introducing the newly designed JWDS-2244 Drum Sander from JET. The 1.75 horsepower motor delivers plenty of power to handle just about any sanding task. The innovative tool-less parallelism system keeps adjustments simple. The worktable is easily positioned by a turn of the parallelism dial. The variable-speed rate permits you to choose the optimal feed rate for a full range of projects, while the Sandsmart feature continuously monitors the load on the drum motor to prevent an overload situation. The mirrored design of the dust hood optimizes dust collection preventing chips and dust from getting between your work-piece and the finish. The JET JWDS-2244 Drum Sander delivers everything you need for an effortless finish.
- Sandsmart control continuously monitors the load on the drum motor and automatically regulates the speed of the conveyor motor to maintain the highest feed rate without overload
- Conveyor bed parallelism is easily adjusted by turning the dial on the outside of the bed – no tools required
- Parallelism adjust dial features a stop to quickly return the conveyor bed to a flat position
- Dust hood includes an integrated channel that mirrors the shape of the drum and directs chips and dust to the 4 in. collection port
- Precision-machined and dynamically balanced extruded aluminum drum is designed to dissipate heat and protect the work surface from heat-damage
- Precision-flattened reinforced steel conveyor bed
- Redesigned conveyor system pulls the work piece through the sander instead of pushing

Had the 22-44 in our luthier shop for a few years now. We make acoustic guitars and ukuleles but also tackle one-off commissions. The machine has been worth its weight in gold. It is a bit fiddly to change the abrasive but that doesn’t need doing very often. We find it best to use course abrasives with light cuts before we finish the guitar parts by hand with progressively finer abrasives. Really can’t imagine how we ever did the work before we had this machine. Also have a Jet bobbin sander – superb as well.

We are a professional Custom Furniture Shop and have looked at this type of product for the past couple of years. Should have bought it years ago! The amount of time that it saves is amazing. No more extensive orbital sanders.. There is learning time for the proper grit as we work with many different woods. I highly recommend it

It went together pretty well. The bolts underneath are not easy too put in. Its a drum sander they are what they are none of them are that great but they get the job done. I dont care for the tensioner mechanism on the drum. Hard too use and change the paper. It could be designed a lot better. All brands could be. Belt sanders are a much better machine but I have a small shop. Over all its ok.

Easy to use the Automatic feed adjuster is nice. Easy to level and dial in. I bought the bigger model glad I did

There’s a learning curve for first time users…First, you’d better have/invest in a cyclone system or your shop vac filter will be caked after 10 minutes use. Second, make VERY light passes when sanding endgrain product, this sander WILL scorch some of the wood (I was sanding hickory) if the pass is too deep. Having said that, this machine is a beast! I couldn’t be happier with it’s ease of use and results. It’s saved me countless hours sanding. I also use it as a thickness planer for some projects as it’s 22″ width is much wider than my DeWalt planer. Yeah, it’s pricey, but what a great purchase.

Assembly easy for 2 people because it is so heavy. Works great with very little set up. Would give it 5 stars but the cover for the drum is very thin plastic and the catch for the cover must have been a after thought. Should have come with at least a extra abrasive strip instead of just the one that is on the drum but otherwise a great tool. Came packed in a wooden container that protected it during shipping and came to the store alot quicker than expected. Purchased from Home Depot for about the same price as the smaller sander elsewhere. And they had free shipping to store. Would definatly recommend buying it from there
