I had a 30-year old stud finder that didn’t work well, and the reason was that the magnet deteriorated over time. The Johnson unit solved that problem, and the level indicator makes it work even better.

It found studs in a plaster wall. Seems like it will last for a little while. If I ever needed another way to find studs in plaster I would buy this again.

This is the cheapest one I can find in the market. It is not a perfect one, but it does the job. I mean it works. It will detect the metal (nail) under the drywall. Just pay attention to the red indicator swinging.

This is a reliable and easy to use stud finder. With the magnetic pin, finding center of a stud is quite straightforward. I am happy that this product worked well and I didn’t have to shell out 20+ bucks for an electronic one.
