This level would be great for indoor work. I tried to use it outside, but you would need to work in the dark to use it outside.

This laser level is fantastic indoors and very easy to use. I had some difficulty using it outside to build a deck. The laser is only visible in lower light conditions. But waiting to mark things in the evening worked pretty good. Inside you can use it all day long.

My self leveling laser kit arrived on time at my local Home Depot. I have not had a chance to use it yet, but I can not wait.

Good value for the $. Did what I needed for my bathtub tile surround project. Would give a higher score if the tripod was sturdier, could raise up higher and I wish the laser had a universal size thread connector to fit any tripod.

Tried a Bosch and found it had weak lasor lines and required more accessories than I wanted to purchase. This Johnson level comes with tripod as well as a hard case. Unit is superior to the much more expensive Bosch and is much brighter as well. Quality, value and great product. Jim

This was perfect for leveling crown molding. The only drawback is the height of the stand, it is about as tall as a camera tripod. So if you want to level something near the ceiling, you either place the stand on some type of platform, or make a level line lower on the wall and measure up. Not really a big deal. As for the quality of the stand, I didn’t have any issue with it. Highly recommend.

Great laser level for the price. I have been very happy with this level.

Works well. I needed an elevation on an outside wall 40 feet away. Naturally, you have to use it early or late before the day gets too bright.

Bought this to hang a suspended ceiling at home. Wanted the rent one but the price of this was less than the rental.Product works very well. Tripod a little flimsy, but aligns very well and draws a bright 90 degree arc. Very happy with the purchase

I wanted to build my own swimming pool from a kit but was intimidated by the need to have a perfectly level excavation. The reviews for this level convinced me to give it a try. Absolutely flawless performance. I used it to shoot line off my back porch to establish a reference point for the entire dig. Once I bolted the pool walls together, I put the level on its tripod on the center of the 15×30 excavation and slowly rotated the laser crosshairs around the perimeter, shimming the walls along the way, to achieve perfect level. The self-leveling is a MUST have feature. One caveat to all this, you must use it in early morning or late evening to see the laser lines.

Excellent performance. Whether you buy this one or not stick with “auto leveling”. Hard to see laser outside, use glasses in late afternoon and you’ll see the line. One of the legs on the tripod was broken when product arrived (not due to shipping). Johnson replaced it with no problem in a few days. I would buy again.

I am very happy with the Johnson Self-Leveling Cross-Line Laser Level Kit for the cost. As advertised, it is more for use inside. Because I wanted to use it to check landscape levels, I’ve had to wait until dusk in order to be able to see the laser levels. This is OK for my personal use.
