I bought mine a few years ago now; use it on a regular basis as a general contractor- plumb wall studs, level floor joists, even in landscaping. Durable case- been dropped many times, tested and calibrated OK, still afterwards. This is one laser level that does it’s job and is not just a cheap gimmick. Mine’s paid itself off over and over again.

I am cautiously recommending this product assuming that I can get the one dead LASER fixed in my unit for a reasonable cost. It’s out of warranty, so we’ll see. I’ve only used it a few times over the years at home, but it’s a really cool way to be able to make level marks all around a room (such as in a kitchen for cabinets), on poles of a lean-to shelter (like I did), etc. I actually had to get it out to prove to the concrete supervisor how out-of-level the forms were before he poured concrete under our lean-to. It was priceless just to be able to do that quickly and without argument. I have learned over and over that you have to double-check EVERYTHING that you can when you hire someone to do anything for you. It’s amazing how horrible some of their workers are at getting the job done right. I could tell you some stories!

I purchased this product from HD several years ago. Didn’t use it much after the first project, maybe a couple of times a year. Loved it… until the self leveling feature stopped working and I had a couple of projects not lining up. Turns out there was a simple fix. The self leveling function is based on magnets, which are not sealed. They loaded up with filings and the pendulum began sticking. Pulled the unit apart and cleaned the magnets and it is back to being a great tool. What I like: Pretty accurate, good price, good quality, great tool to have. It can be adjusted for fine tuning. What could be improved: These things work in the dirt…dirt has filings. They should seal the magnet/pendulum assy or make the magnets cleanable. (took awhile to figure out how to take it apart)I would buy this tool again, and recommend it for others.
