I researched this product a lot after hearing of it on Mac forums, it is a very good product, and seems to perform very well. I use it to connect my Lacie pro drive, I have tried both eSATA and USB 3.0, and both perform very well. I’m very pleased I purchased it, and B&H were great, and I would certainly use them again, price was fantastic, so was service.

I bought a Lenovo Thinkpad W541 laptop which has a Thunderbolt2 port. I will be using it for video editing works. I use powered external hard disks all USB 3.0. I use a Express34 to USB 3.0 adapter through USB 3.0 powered Hub for my work flow. I thought I could use the Thunderbolt2 port also and searched for suitable adapter for USB 3.0. The most economical one I found was this Kanex Thunderbolt to ESata & USB3.0 adapter. So I bought it from B&H Photovideo at a price much less than what it costs in India. I use Windows7 OS and got the required driver software from Kanex website. At first I had problem in getting the device detected, this I solved by updating the Thunderbolt software. The device was detected properly but I could not get device to mount the external hard disks. I lodged a return request with the B&H and asked for a replacement, hoping that I may get a piece that might work. The B&H was over generous with me they sent me another device free of cost. That arrived in Guwahati few days back. I tested it today, same as the previous one, NOT WORKING BUT DETECTED PROPERLY. I had approached the Kanex technical support also, they did not respond at all. I wished I could return both the devices, but B&H has made the order non-returnable, so I am now blessed with two of these devices useless for me, I do not think I can sell it to anyone here in Assam. In my opinion the product is not made properly that is why Kanex company has not responded to my request for technical support . I hope this review of mine will prevent others working with windows OS from buying this product, I cannot comment on the MacIntosh users.
