I ordered this level for my husband and he was thrilled when I gave it to him. It’s bright red so not getting lost in the garage This level is the first 36″ we’ve ever owned which is a great size. It has marked measurements on the face, 16″ and 24″ so no need for a tape measure when finding studs. Also has a very strong magnet, has shock proof vials and the box is 3/4″ deep so it’s easy to handle. Great tool.

My appreciation for Kapro – and respect – was earned years ago with a “set and match ruler”. Kapro seems to have a way of pleasing me with creative ways to do what would otherwise be a challenging project. I will start with the magnetic holding power of the box level … The problem was not holding, but removing it. WOW! That is the best problem you can have and I love it for that. I have a few small dents in the level itself now, and wish that was bit stronger – however, the key elements such as the vials have stayed intact, true, and clean, clear visibility. I appreciate the way it hangs on the peg board organizer nice and neatly with nice angled areas built into each end piece. The end pieces seem a bit cheap with hardened plastic. I’d rather see a rubberized end to cushion the level if dropped on its end. Overall, it serves it’s purpose with ease, and easily, accurately and effortlessly aligns steel studs and holds them very firmly in place.

I’ve been using my level for hanging unistrut, electrical panels, and deck construction. It has good visibility and has survived a little abuse – no major drops. It’s not too heavy and not too light. Sometimes, I need the 5′ level and other times a torpedo level is all I need. This level takes care of those applications in between. Well built and great value for my work.

The Kapro 36 inch Box Level for Drywall Studs is a time saver. The craftsmanship of this tool is first rate and has the spacing for both 16 inch and 24 inch studs. The surfaces are milled to .0005 inch/inch for close tolerances. The vials are very accessible and are easy to read. The design of this level also frees up a hand by inserting the studs into the slot allowing you to measure and mark at the same time.

A very well built tool. It doesn’t have the 45 degree vial, but I’ve never needed it. The “Plumb Site” vial is much more important and is definitely worth loosing the 45. It’s very handy for setting a post since you don’t have to crane your neck around the level to see the side of the post facing you.I laid out a short wall using the cut outs and it worked well enough. On a long wall I’d go back to the old tape measure and pencil/marker method. I just prefer to have one reference mark rather than allow the possibly of the addition of errors. Now if you are having to build a wall in place with the studs vertical when you set them, the level is quite handy. Put it at the bottom and slide up.The vials have a curvature to them so that the bubble moves much more quickly the all the other levels I have used before. This is definitely a pro grade tool.

Using this level was like having 3-hands because the strong magnets held the level firmly in place allowing me to use my other hands to hold other objects and to take measurements and make pencil markings. The solid box-style design inspires confidence that accurate measurements can be achieved, even if the level suffers an occasional drop onto hard surfaces. I like that it has two-directional level sites, one for horizontal and another for vertical/plumb, and they are both easy to see and read (see picture). At 36”, the level easily spans typical metal stud spacing widths using 3 magnetized slots with indents for 16″ and 24″ stud spacing (see picture). Holes at each end of the level make it easy to store on a hook or nail (see picture). The smooth steel surface along the length provides a perfect straight-edge for marking lines (see picture). This is a high-quality product, which I would recommend to those who demand precision and efficiency.

The Kapro 36″ level is a professional grade tool for installing metal (or wood) studs quickly and easily. This level does much more than other levels on the market, it makes installing metal studs very easy and very quick. The level has slots for standard 16″ and 24″ on center stud placement, each slot has a strong rare earth magnet to keep metal studs in place so one person can easily do the job. The level is nice and light so it stays in place when attached to the metal studs. I found that starting at the bottom and then sliding the level up to the top of the studs worked the best. The level has a great feature; the vertical plumb level vial has a window that you can look thru. No more craning your neck to look around the level to see that the bubble in the level. This also works well with wood studs. The wall studs can be laid out quickly when building a wall on a flat floor. No more marking the locations of studs just move from one stud to the next. This is so much faster than marking and then nailing. This is also a great tool for installing roof trusses since it has slots at the standard spacings. The construction of the level is very nice. Its super light and the level’s vials are a little larger than other levels on the market. If you’re looking for a tool to make stud layout on metal or wood studs this is the tool to look at.

Now I can lay off my hired helper. Well, it is a time saver plus it is like having 3 hands. Not only a time saver but well constructed and very accurate. The magnetic inserts are a great help too. I like having a vertical and horizontal bubble. The indentations for 16 or 24 inch studs is great and can be used to verify your work. All in all a great tool.

This came in a week ago and I have had two occasions to use this level. First, the quality is impeccable. It is sturdy and seems very well built. The magnetic ability allowed me to be hands free for one job and that was extremely helpful. The window indicators for the level readings are large and easy and there are indicators for every direction, again, one level for it all. I would certainly recommend this to anyone in the trades.

The 36 inch Magnetic Box Level for Drywall Studs is a outstanding tool. It got it one week ago and put it to use right away. I was doing a small dry wall project in my home and it worked perfectly. I really like the indents in the level that measures either 16 inch or 24 inch on center for the studs and with these it really helps to level the drywall you are putting up. It is very accurate. the magnetic surface really helps and you don’t have to worry about it going out of level if you drop it. The vials are shockproof. It is great to work with and you can use as just a level if you want.
