With more and more laptops removing ports in favor of thinner, sleeker designs, the Kensington SD5700T 4-Port Thunderbolt 4 Dual 4K Docking Station ensures you can get the most out of your MacBook or Windows 10 laptop. With four Thunderbolt 4 ports, this docking station supports up to 40 Gb/s. Thunderbolt 4 also allows for outputting to dual 4K displays or a single 8K display. There are also four USB Type-A ports so you can still connect USB devices and peripherals. With up to 90W of power delivery, you will be able to power as well as fast charge compatible devices. The docking station isn’t done there. There’s also a UHS II SD 4.0 card slot, Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 LAN jack, and even a 3.5mm audio combo jack. With 11 ports of connectivity, the SD5700T docking station offers the premium benefits of Thunderbolt 4 and also prepares you for the future.
Please note that Macs with the Apple M1 chip will work with this docking station. However, only a single video output is supported.

I am using the SD5700T to power and support my new M1 Max 64gb MacBook Pro. Powers well. Read and Write speeds on external card readers works great. The front facing ports are nice and easily accessible. CON: – No HDMI or Display port out. – Had to re cycle power after having it for less than a week bc the power drive to my USB 3.0 & C turned off / failed. (nothing crazy but a minor inconvenience) Once, unplugged and plugged back in, powered up as normal. I have 3 last gen monitors that I bought right before USB C / Thunderbolt 4 hit the market. Luckily the M1 Max has HDMI out and I can signal thru to the monitor. I could foresee other last gen users that don’t have Thunderbolt powered external monitors, like myself, running into a similar issue. It causes a little but of a fuzz sound to my external KRK sound monitors which is quite annoying. (this may be the sign of needing to recycle power, but even after re-booting up I still hear a bit of fuzz). I’d never use the front facing audio jack as the M1 Max audio sounds AMAZING as well as I’d typically monitor sound thru a sound interface, but nonetheless, it’s a great feature to have. I’d really like a TS4 but it’s near impossible to get hands on it. Overall, this has been a good docking station and works as expected with a few minor inconveniences. I expect they’ll come out with a newer model more suited for the newer MacBook Pro layouts. It’s great to free up my Thunderbolt 4 ports on the side of my laptop as well as getting rid of the dongle. This works well for my studio setup. I just wish it had HDMI / Display Port. Time to upgrade my monitors. Cheers, JB
