After my old coffee maker made a mess on my kitchen counter, I researched replacements. I’m ex-Navy and I drink a lot of coffee and wanted a reliable unit. Saw what I liked in the KitchenAid 12 cup coffee maker. I prefer KitchenAid appliences as I have a 5 qt. KitchenAid stand mixer that’s been with me for over 46 years and has never let me down. I’ve had this unit a little over a month and I must say that I’m satisfied with it. I had to experiment with the amount of grounds to use as my taste for coffee isn’t compatible with the ‘guide lines’ of the grounds indicator. But that’s just kmy choice. One negative item about this is the condensation that forms on the showerhead lid and drains down the side and front of the unit when the lid is lifted to remove the basket. Other than that, it’s a great machine. I also like the ‘bold’ brew option. I haven’t tried out the automatic brew start yet as I usually prepare the unit at night before I go to bed and just hit the start button after I stumble into the kitchen.

The coffee has a depth that you can actually taste…the difference between my old Cuisinart & the KitchenAid. But the downer to the design..the pot doesn’t separate from the lid, so you can’t remove it to clean & let it dry out upside down. Also the plastic container for the water is heavy…..when attached to pot it becomes cumbersome to lift up on my higher counter from the lower one where I put the pot to prep it for the morning. I have arthritis & have to get a step stool to lift the pot up & then attach the plastic water container to the pot……I love KitchenAid products, & we just bought our 3rd KitchenAid dishwasher, far above the Maytag which I started out with. Also, because I have arthritis, I tried to buy an extra glass carafe in case the one I have breaks. I called KitchenAid & was told they don’t have individual pots available……only ones connected with new pots. This is a great disappointment to me because of my respect for the KitchenAid brand. That is the reason for the #3 rating.

The best feature is the way it pours, no more dribbles on the counter & no more pouring over the sink . Another great feature is being able to see how many minutes left before the warming tray shuts off. The removable watertank allows you to fill at the sink and besides the great features it also looks attractive on the counter .Almost forgot the signal when coffee is ready, good idea.

I bought this kitchen aid coffee maker to replace a bunn that I returned. This is the best coffeemaker I have ever owned! It makes a hot cup of coffee. You can adjust the strength to bold. The only thing is its little slow but I guess that’s why coffee is good and strong. Not warm water. Love this coffee maker and recommend to anyone. It was even cheaper than the Bunn I returned.

After our third or fourth coffee pot bit the dust, we had to get another pronto as my husband will go through a large thermos each day at work. I decided on the KitchenAid since their products haven’t let me down. This coffee pot is amazing! I love all of the features: the clear tank so YOU SEE that the pot is prepped and don’t overfill; the filter inside which makes cleaning easier; it’s easy to set the timer…we love the coffee pot! Oh and the coffee tastes amazing using this pot! Strong but that’s easily remedied and my husband prefers strong anyhow.
