We have had ample opportunities to use this oven. Hubby uses it everyday to heat up either breakfast or lunch. I have baked casseroles, pie, and potatoes. The knobs are easy to turn and well marked. The 1800 w. allow for better heating than our old one. Only problem is that the “stay on” control is very close to the “off’ spot on the dial and has accidentally been turned on when meant to turn off.

For years I had a countertop oven/broiler and used it to make dinner nearly every night. When it finally died I didn’t replace it. This oven/broiler does just as good a job broiling meat or baking acorn squash as my gas oven and it doesn’t heat up the kitchen in hot weather! Love it!

I purchased the KitchenAid Compact Oven to reduce energy usage. It does what it’s mean to do – it cooks food to my satisfaction. There’s a learning curve with cook timing and temperature. There’s not an exact match to product cooking instructions. I’ve found that my oven runs hotter than my regular size gas oven. Preheating takes five minutes. Also on the learning curve is remembering to turn the oven back on after preheating. To start the preheat function you turn the oven timer on. When the timer dings, the oven turns off. Simple enough to remember you have to set the timer to turn the oven back on to cook food, I’ve forgotten a few times, though. I use a freestanding timer when I cook (so I can take it with me throughout the house) so it’s not intuitive for me to turn the stove’s timer on to turn it back on. The crumb tray is a big helper in keeping the oven clean.
