Description

Kitchen Aid’s KMT2116OB 2-slice toaster, in onyx black, features simple, programmable, start-to-finish toasting. The extra-wide slots will accept the thickest bagels, breads, or pastries and the extra-deep, steel toasting cavity ensures even browning. The racks automatically adjust the slot width for thick or thin slices, keeping food upright for even toasting. Selecting the bagel toasting function reduces the power on one side of the heating elements by 50% to produce a better toasted bagel. With the defrost button, frozen pastries can be toasted to perfection in minutes. The keep warm mode keeps bread warm for up to 3 minutes after toasting. The peek and see function allows you to check on your food without stopping the toasting process. When your food is ready, the high lift lever makes it easy to get it out of the toaster. The reheat setting quickly reheats toasted food in under a minute. Plus, the adjustable 7-shade setting ensures your food will pop up just the way you like it.

This toaster is elegant and functional, it matches my mixer and blender which I have had for years. I read reviews talking about plastic caps being left inside and plastic smell. The plastic that is inside is heat resistant and is there as a slide to make sure the bread lowers smoothly (rather than metal against metal). I did have a smell the very first time I used the toaster which has always been my experience with new appliances that generate heat, the first use is a burn-in so don’t put bread in it the first time. I love the way this toaster beeps rather than just shooting out toast, how I can check the toast without stopping the toasting cycle, and how it will keep toast warm while I am getting my coffee. My only criticism would be that this toaster has to be facing you from the widest side so it takes up more room on the counter than it would if the controls were on the narrow side.

I love this toaster because the settings are in the front – no turning the toaster to adjust the setting and also the lever lifts up to see if the toast is done sooner. You thought of everything. Great jpb!
