This bowl is great for things like boxed mixes, cakes, and small batches. Thick doughs get caught in the blades of the attachment so I suggest using it for more fluid recipes.

I have the KSM6573, narrow 6.5 qt bowl lift mixer. This is my favorite accessory! Lets me beat eggs, cream butter & sugar, etc. then remove, add to the large bowl full of dry ingredients and swap to the standard whisk, dough hook or paddle and go! Saves my spare standard size bowl for the next thing I’m making. Used to haul out my KA stick blender to beat eggs, etc, when recipes called for doing wet ingredients & dry separately before mixing them together, but it wasn’t quite the right tool, and meant more things to assemble/wash/dissemble and clutter up the counter & sink as I worked. This is also great for making a quick batch of whipped cream for a dessert, meringue for a single pie, and even adding some air & blending ingredients with eggs for an omelet or casserole. Am thinking about ordering another one, just to have on hand when I do holiday cookies, so I can quickly make multiple batches of frostings in different colors & flavors without having to stop and wash & dry everything in between. It was a little tough to get on/off the pins the first few times I used it. I just put a little vegetable oil on my finger and rubbed on the pins, so it went on/off more easily. After that, the holes kind of smoothed out, and I no longer need to do that, it goes on/off easy-peasy. Though the whisk doesn’t have as many wires as I’d prefer, it does a great job, just give it a few more seconds than you would when using the larger bowl & standard whisk to produce the same results. Also, shallower bowl means you need to start at a lower speed until you start seeing things begin to thicken & peak. If you crank it up to high speed immediately, like you can do with the large bowl & whisk, you’ll get some spatters out of the bowl.

I use this as much as I use the big bowl. It is excellent for smaller batch items waffles or pancakes. Or anytime you have a recipe where you need to whip egg whites separately from the other ingredients. The one thing it needs is a scraper blade. I have contacted the chat here to ask how to make this suggestion, but they don’t have a way to do that. So my next stop is to contact the after market supplier that made my 6 quart scraper blade and ask them to consider making one.

Having a smaller bowl that fits my 6 qt mixer for those smaller projects is great! Many complain about the larger bowls being too big for whipping up small amounts of icing or eggs…small amounts of anything. The complaints are that the bowl is too big for the beater or whips to really mix and whip ingredients well without leaving lots of unmixed ingredients at the bottom of the bowl. This bowl can help with that concern. The whip is large and the bowl is shorter. You can really get those ingredients mixed together well without having to use a large bowl. NOW, all we need, KitchenAid is a coated or stainless steel beater to fit this bowl!
