Doing a complete A/C system change out has electrical wires ranging from 22awg to 2awg, and usually I was just managing by using a twelve gauge hole to strip a 6 gauge wire. Not the best image when the customer is a retired electrician. So I looked around for a stripper that could manage the bigger wires, with a comfortable grip. I found this particular one to be equal to the others in price, but with a longer reputation history.They are comfortable, effective, and a brand I trust.

This will probably be one of those weird reviews, but I managed to pinch my thumb with it, and get a blood blister which ruptured, and bled on the tool. Now that it has gotten that out of the way, it’s happy and my project went quite well. Id recommend this tool to anyone working with larger sized wire as I was.

I bought these to replace a well used stripper that was about 8 yrs old and just wasnt stripping wire very well especially 12 gauge stranded. I expected these to perform much better but was unpleasantly surprised when they actually are worse at stripping 12 awg wire than my 8 yr old pair. Very disappointed in them.

It’s one of the few wire strippers and cutters that will strip and cut up to six gauge wire. So far I’ve only stripped eight gauge wire. The stripper appears to be ever so slightly large in the eight gauge hole. The insulation was not cut completely through so I had to apply some sideways pull to get the insulation off. However, being slightly oversized means that it won’t cut the wire, a rather important feature. I’m happy with it.
