I had the opportunity to evaluate these aviation snipe. They are commonly referred to as TIN snips compound snips and duct snips. They are yellow handled color coded for straight cutting. These snips cut very well and are a great brand. I have never had any issue with them when cutting duct, wire, flat thin steels and aluminum. These are now my GOTO tool for these applications. Using the correct snip for the job will make life easier.

These are excellent quality straight cut aviation tin snips made by Klein tools. I’m a big fan of Klein tools, they are high quality tools that perform well and are built to last. The locking heavy duty head provides great cutting power. Added feature is the wire cutter built into the head. These snips feel great in your hand, with the large plastic molded handles providing plenty of grip and power. The end of the handles near the head have stop grips to keep the cut metal from riding up the handle and protecting your hands. Head is strong and cuts smooth and straight. Combine these straight cutting snips with a right and left angle snip to complete your set

I am really impressed by these straight cutting aviation snips by Klein Tools. First off the quality is superb, the comfort grips feel great in my hands, and the nips are well-balanced. The forged steel serrated cutting blades, which are spring loaded for easy cutting, are robust and can cut up to 18 gauge cold rolled steel making them ideal for cutting HVAC sheetmetal. A well thought-out feature on these snips is the integrated wire cutter making this tool really versatile. The aviation snips also come in a right and left cutting version as well.

Over the years I have owned a number of Klein Tools and they have always provided outstanding performance and continue to do so. Therefore, when I saw the aviation snips I immediately ordered it. I have been adding additional gutter guards to our home but had to stop. I could no longer cut the thick metal material with the old 1940’s eleven inch’s long metal snips I inherited from my Dad. I would only end up bruising my hands. However, these new aviation snips cut through this metal like the proverbial hot knife through butter. The snips come with thick padded grips which protect the palm of the hand. I was able to complete the gutter guard installation quickly. The snips come with a built in wire cutter which is a real time save. See attached photos. Well done Klein Tools!

Aviation Snips with Straight Wire Cutter – I have several sets of different brand aviation snips and use them for installing aluminum soffit and fascia and vinyl siding on houses and occasionally grid systems for acoustic panel ceilings. For the most part they all cut these materials fine, but the Kline snips just feel better in my hand and they easily cut through galvanized sheet metal and ductwork. The grips on the Kline snips are more substantial and noticeably better than those on other snips I own. These are definitely professional quality tools.

The addition of a wire cutter on these snips is an excellent feature because I am always needing to cut a wire when I am working with snips and I don’t want to ruin my snip blades. However, 12 gauge wire, the most common type I cut, barely fits in the cutter. The handle is comfortable and the locking paw is well placed and easy to reach. The true mark of good snips is that they cut all the way to the end of the blades so you can get into bent corners and these cut right to the tip.

Rugged, quality pair of yellow (straight) aviation tin snips with ergonomic handles and notch heavy gauge wire cutter. I already own red and green (left and right) offset aviation snips by the highly regarded Midwest brand and got these to finish out the set. They compare very favorably in terms of quality and performance. I’ve used them to cut gutter guard, trim around a flexible dryer vent, and to cut wire. They have performed as expected — typical of Klein quality. The notch wire cutter is a nice touch, and the guards up high on the handle keep sharp edges away from your hands — and your hands away from the sharp edges. The micro serration on the blades is another nice touch, and keeps the blades from slipping off when you’re bearing down to cut through something really tough. Overall, a very competently designed and functional pair of snips. Highly recommended.

Didn’t even know Klein made tin snips, they are awesome. Best tin snips you can buy. Great for cutting through steel framing to make openings for whatever.
