I hate drilling any size hole in metal, even when the bit is in a drill press. It is tiresome & labor intensive. I was apprehensive, I thought it would be very hard to work with this Klein Tools 8-piece hole cutter kit. I took the bull by the horns & put the largest, a 2 1/2″ dia. hole cutter bit into my heavy duty 1/2″ portable drill. Without first center punching the mark, where I wanted to drill the hole, I started drilling, on low speed, on a section of 1/16″ thick Stainless Steel plate. The split point pilot bit DID NOT walk. In seconds, the pilot bit cut through the surface & the 2 1/2″ dia. cutters made contact with the surface. It took a few more seconds & the bit completely cut through the Stainless Steel. I was pleasantly surprised. That was the easiest hole I ever drilled through metal. The hole it made was cleanly cut, on both sides. Next, I tried the smallest, a 7/8″ dia. hole cutter bit, with the same great results. The carbide teeth are welded to the circumference of the hole cutter & are angled down, so the first contact, with metal, scribes a clean cutting edge & then the rest of each tooth peels away the metal. The set comes with two extra split point pilot bits that easily replaces the pilot bit in any of the hole cutters, with the included Allen wrench. The whole set comes in a heavy duty, compact travel case. This a highest quality, heavy duty, metal hole cutting set.

These carbide hole-cutting drill bits are made well by an American company. You don’t have to be a Master Electrician to appreciate the quality and performance of these hole cutters. It is also great to have a hard molded-plastic case to keep them in and each slot is marked with the size. The case measures about 12″ x 10″ x 3″ with 2 easy-to-open pull flaps. They cut smoothly through stainless steel, Mild steel, iron, and copper up to 3/16″ thick and cut conduit & pipe sizes from 1/2″ to 2″. I like that they have an integrated flange to prevent me from cutting too far.The kit includes 6 common bits with the size printed on each: 7/8″, 1-1/8″, 1-3/8″, 1-3/4″, 2″, 2-1/2″ and 2 two extra split-point pilot drill bits with a hex key for changing the pilot bits when needed. I don’t know how many times I have tried to do a job and did not have the proper size hole cutter – now I have a much better chance of having what I need. These bits are extremely sharp, and I was impressed with how easily I could cut through a piece of sheet metal and a pvc pipe. As soon as the weather breaks, I will be ready to start a few more projects!

If you want a quick, easy and clean hole in metal, copper, brass or even stainless steal, you should consider this kit. It’s a KLEIN, that means quality. I like the fact that you only use one one size/diameter pilot drill bit, which by the way is self taping, prevents walking and the need to drill a smaller stater hole. Number two, each bit has a pilot bit pre-installed, no wasting time changing bits or mandrels, and you get two additional pilot bits too. The integrated spring on the bit is a plus too. Only having used this set a few times, and because of the heavy carbide tips, I have to believe these will outlast a typical Bi-metal hole saw. I even made my own washers, the pilot bit is only 3/16″, so you may have drill them out larger depending on the application. It also advisable to use a variable speed drill, the softer the material the higher the speed, harder slower. If you are in the trades I can’t see using anything else. It’s another KLEIN design, quality that lasts.

This really is another high-quality product from Klein Tools! I used the 7/8” cutter to cut through a thin sheet of aluminum and was surprised at how easily it did the job! This kit allows you to easily cut precise holes in mild steel, copper and brass sheet. Klein Tools even included two extra pilot bits that can easily be changed with the provided hex key. There are 6 carbide hole cutters in the following sizes:• 7/8 in• 1 – 1/16 in• 1 – 3/8 in• 1 – ¾ in• 2 in• 2 – ½ inAn integrated flange prevents drilling beyond the sheet metal. The kit comes with a molded plastic carrying case that makes storage very convenient and transport extremely easy. This set is warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for the normal life of the product. I highly recommend this product because it works as advertised.

I used this Klein hole cutter kit to cut holes in copper sheeting; it cut very easily and accurately. This kit can be used to cut holes in mild steel, iron, copper, and brass. The kit includes six carbide hole cutters ranging from 7/8 inch to 2 and a half inches. It also has two additional pilot bits. It cuts up to 3/16 inch thick. The kit is very well made and I expect to get many years of service out of it. I own some other products from Klein tools and I have not had any issues with any of them. The inclusion of a sturdy carrying case is a plus. The kit has a lifetime warranty. I am very satisfied with this product.

For cutting clean holes in soft metal and other hard surfaces, this Klein kit excels. You’ll want to use a heavy-duty handheld drill or a drill press and go slowly, but in the end you’ll have a clean hole with the “slug” ejected by the built-in spring. My drill press is old (and low-quality) and kept stalling, even though I was applying light pressure, but it eventually cut a nice hole in a steel electrical box. I appreciate that two extra center bits with springs are included, and the case holds everything neatly.

I got these since I am installing a solar photovoltaic array. Hooking up all of the various components involves lots of conduit. If the box you are dealing with doesn’t have a knockout in the right place you need to provide one. These are the best electrician’s hole saws I have ever used. In the past I have used regular hole saws. They dull quickly cutting through steel and when you break through they bind and jam. These Klein saws have carbide teeth and due to their configuration they don’t seem to jam at all. They cut through the sheet metal of an electrical box almost instantly and with their flange they only penetrate about an inch into the box. Another exceptional feature is the spring loaded disc that pushes the piece that has been removed out. On my other hole saws getting the disc out of the saw has always been a pain.

I really like the carbide bits but it seems like the quality has gone down.. I was drilling with the 1 1/4 bit into freezer panels, which is really thin and one of the carbide teeth came off..That’s an expensive bit if I was to buy it alone..This is the third set I’ve bought in four years I just hope the quality isn’t getting worse

A really nice kit. I got this to cut some holes in a set of metal cabinets in my greenhouse for routing irrigation valve control wires. I wanted a precise cut so I could finish the conduit run cleanly and the cutters did that well. They’ve got pilot bits (with a couple of extras) but I still marked the location with a punch dimple to keep the bit from walking. The storage case is nice, too.
