The Klein Tools 25 in. Cable Cutter with Protective Sleeve Model # 63041TH is a lightweight, efficient shear-type cable cutter. The jaws are made of forged tool steel with a black-oxide finish for long life. This cutter has replaceable hook-jaw blades. It can cut soft cable (500 Copper, 750 Aluminum) up to 1-3/8 in. diameter and makes a clean, even cut for ease in fitting lugs and terminals. The exceptionally strong fiberglass handles are ergonomically friendly with heavy vinyl grips for comfort and slip resistance.

Strong cutters that provide a clean effortless cut through large cables. Long handles provide plenty of torque needed to get through even o gauge cables. Stays sharp enough to keep going through even soft multi-strand cables. High use doesnt seem to bother reliability of these cutters as they have been getting use in a commercial application. Would highly recommend to the professional.

I recently used this tool to cut some heavy-duty (6-3 gage) wire used to wire a built-in range. I found this tool to be a rugged and well-designed for cutting aluminum and copper cable. It’s pricey, so unless you have a special project, or you are an electrician or otherwise work with heavy gauge wire with some regularity (as I do), it may be hard to justify the purchase. However, using this cutter to lop off some lengths of 6-3 gauge wire cable (see picture), was a whole lot easier than muscling through the cuts of the individual wires inside the cable using a heavy duty hand pliers, as I had been doing. The cutter handles measure 26” from tip-to-tip which is long enough to provide great leverage, but not so long as to be cumbersome to carry or store. The concentric circular design of the cutting head (see picture) makes clean, one-handed cuts possible (I love one-handed operation!) because the concentric design of the head holds the cable in place throughout the cut. I like that the area under the cutter head is insulated with rubber sleeves, so that it is possible to reach into unprotected areas to make a cut without fear of snagging something.Out of curiosity, I attempted to cut a small gauge (1/8”) wire metal rope without success – the wire rope was shredded, not cleanly cut. The blade cannot handle steel, even if it is a small gauge. This is a quality tool that can capably and quickly handle heavy duty wire cutting chores. I would recommend it to a friend.

If only have one cable to cut you probably do not need this tool. But if you have to cut cable from time to time or all the time, you want this tool. I found it made clean sheer cuts on the old aluminum wire I had to remove. I tested on copper wire, bundled lighting wires and some 1.5 inch tree limbs. I tried the tree limbs because I want to know whether I could get enough leverage on the bigger wiring I run into from to time. The leverage requirements are fine for specified soft cable of 1 3/8th dia. As long as you do not attempt to cut reinforced cables this toll should last a long time.

This is a really heavy-duty cutter, and does a great job of cutting wire. I cut a piece of 12-2 w/ground effortlesssly. My only reason for the 3-star rating is that I don’t understand why Klein (and I have been a fan of Klein tools for years) would make a cutter this heavy, and then make it for copper only. A little more effort and it would also be able to cut wire rope, but no – it says right on the blades “NOT FOR STEEL”. The blades are certainly heavy enough, but they obviously aren’t hardened sufficiently.

This cable cutter is suited mostly for electrical work, cutting up to 500 copper and 750 aluminum MCM cable. It is relatively lightweight and very easy to use, 25 inches long for lots of leverage and very sharp jaws that cut in a circular manner to leave a clean cut. Will not slip out or flatten the cuts like with bolt cutters. Klein makes great products geared toward professionals and these cable cutters are no different. If you need to cut a cable here or there you may be able to get away without needing these, but in a professional setting doing electrical work or anyone DIY-ing their own service or whatever may find these very useful.

25 in. Cable CutterI received the 25 in. Cable Cutter with Protective Sleeve to test for Home Depot. I am not an electrician by trade and don’t have a lot of cable to cut, so I enlisted my neighbor to test them for me. He is an electrician and told me that these were great. He like the sleeve and the comfortable hand grips. He said the cuts were clean and very precise. I did try it on some scrap and agree that these are a beast without too much weight. Very easy to use!!

Another fine product from Kline. The 25 inch handle provides good leverage for cutting cables with little straining. The handle and grips are insulated and just below the cutting head there are rubber sleeves. The cutting head is good for cutting 1 3/8 copper and aluminum wire. The orange handles makes it easy to find when left with at a site making clean up easier.

The cutters are fantastic! I’m an avid DIYer. I’m currently redoing a family barn The was built I. The early 1920’s. I’m using these to cut electrical cables about 1 inch and they are slicing through the copper and aluminum like a hot knife through butter. The large rounded jaw grabs the cable and evenly holds it firmly inplace as it easily cuts right through. The handles are long and strong and make for great leverage causing you to have to use very little physical strength to make even the tough thick cable cuts with easy. Great product and I highly recomend them. They are very will built and I think they will last for years.

I have been using various Klein tools and most of my Klein tools have been with me for many years. This 25 in. Cable Cutter with Protective Sleeve does not disappoint. The cutter is light-weight and the long handle makes it easy to cut through cables painlessly. The little details such as non-slip vinyl grip and the forged steel jaws make my job much easier. Make sure do not use this cutter on those aluminum-steel reinforced cables. Klein does have different cutting tools for that type of job.
