Please know how this product is intended to work before using it or reviewing it.This is not a standard tubing or pipe cutter in that it is not designed to cut through the pipe, it is only meant to score the pipe, cutting partially though then you simply remove the tool and provide some lateral force to the pipe; the pipe will cleanly break. This break doesn’t require any further work and is utterly clean and ready to go.This is the best time saver if you do much commercial work; while it wont cut 2″ rigid metal or GRC it will chew through EMT and IMC without a problem. My one con for this is the utter lack of directions; I completely understand how this could be misused and how people could think it was bad. If you use this like a regular pipe cutter you will be incredibly disappointed. I was ready to return mine after I bought it based on a recommendation; after the recommender showed me how to use it though it now has a place in my kit along side my well work Rigid (Used for cutting big stuff).

The only problem with this tool is the lack of instructions. The best way to use it is to turn the screw until the cutting disc touches the EMT to be cut. Then apply a quarter turn and go around the pipe 2 or more times. Then apply a quarter turn of the handle for a total of a half turn. Rotate 2 or more times and remove the tool.At this point there is a light score on the pipe. The best ways to then snap the pipe are to lay it flat on the floor and place your foot right next to the score mark and then lift on the remainder of the pipe. It will readily snap. The second and very effective methods is to place your pipe bender on the pipe and align the score mark with the star mark on the bender. Use the bender as if you were bending the pipe and it will snap the pipe at the score mark.Another option for short lengths are to insert the bender hollow handle over the pipe to be snapped. Slide the hollow tube over the EMT until the bender handle end is even with the score mark. Use the leverage of the bender to snap at the score line.Last method is to chuck it up in a vice and bend at the score line.No matter what, you will not be able to bend over your knee or across something. It is best to use one of the above methods.I still used a conduit reaming tool to clean up the EMT end, but there was minimal burr to begin with. If there is a large burr, it is because the cutter was engaged too far.To ensure I only used a half turn, I put a red mark on the cutter dial at the 12 o’clock position when the cutter is touching the EMT and then turned to 3 o’clock and then 6 o’clock.

Works fine. Puts too much compression on the pipe. Makes reaming the pipe a bit tough

Super high Klein quality. Beefy and precise. Makes cutting EMT fast and easy. Should last a lifetime.

Great compact tool for cutting conduit in the field.

Worked as advertised. Better for 3/4″ EMT than 1″. Generally used another scoring tool (without flat shoulder) to make score a bit deeper after starting with this tool. Made snapping sure-fire. Clean snap, very little cleanup.

The screw has a tendency to become dislodged. When this happens the screw has to be replaced or found. A locking type screw needs to be installed in some sort of way.

Works great. I have only used it in one job so can’t say anything about the reliability.

Better than a hack saw. Slower than an abrasive chop saw. You need to understand this only scores the EMT, it does not cut it. The next step after scoring, is to “snap” the scored conduit in two. For a short end cutoff, not enough leverage to break it with your own two hands, (unless, you are a body builder). For an average cutoff, with a couple feet or more in both ends, still takes a pretty fair effort (exception, 1/2″ EMT, not bad). The “snapped” end is square to the pipe, round in cross section, and free of burrs, but sharp. Usually OK, if pushed tight up against the stop collar of a connector. For extra assurance on a conduit with a tight fill, you can hit the end with a ream, or a piece of sandpaper to knock the sharp edge down. Saves time if you have the strength to use it.

Nice tool but probably an over kill if your only making a few cuts. My hand was injured in Vietnam and I’m getting old so I like it. I still like to work and do the job right. Just like I was talk as an 0351 on the Marine Corps. This tool is well made and will last a life time. Good Look!
