Klein Tools Laser Distance Meter provides fast and accurate measurements up to 98 ft. (30 m) with an accuracy of plus or minus 1/16 in. (1.6 mm). Along with the ability to store the last 20 measurements, this tool calculates area, volume, and Pythagoras measurements. The rugged casing provides added protection and the backlit screen allows for easy viewing in low light situations.

The tool works very well in an indoor environment but really can’t be used outside on a bright day. You cannot even see the red laser dot to acquire the point you’re trying to measure. I had to go on site when it was getting dark to measure the distance from the ground to the bottom on a transformer on a pole so I could order the correct length of cable for an electrical job we were doing. Also you sometimes have to press the measurement button several times to obtain a reading.
