I was a mechanic all my life and I have always relied on quality tools that cost more but last much longer and would hold up to sever abuse. Klein tools does make a quality tool that I have use in my tool box and has never gave me any issues. This diagonal cutting pliers will cut threw metal and and come in handy from cotter pins to cutting wire ties. The handle is very comfortable and protects your hand when tiring to cut threw thicker metals plus the orange color make it easy to find in your tool box.The handles are also insulated with a dielectric material to protect the user from getting shocked.

I like the insulation on the handle of this Klein diagonal cutting pliers it is rated for 1000 volt insulation which is done with two different lawyers of insulation with finger guards. Klein tools are made with the highest quality of tool steel in the U.S.A… This Klein high leverage diagonal cutting makes cutting wires with ease. I have used Klein tools with complete satisfaction and will find a place in my tool belt.

I have several diagonal cutters, but it wasn’t until I got this Klein that I learned the others are only for cutting soft copper and aluminum. This explain why the knives on one of them are all chewed up.Plus the plastic handles on my other diagonals provide no real electrical protection! This D228-8-NIS can cut much harder materials including ACSR, screws, nails and most hardened wire. The double insulated handle is rated for 1000 volts. The outer coating is orange, while the inner one is white. If you ever see white insulation, the tool will no longer provides voltage protection. The 15 degree head offset lets you get close to the work without the tool getting in the way.At 8 inches tall and weighing about 7 oz, the smooth operation and high leverage means you won’t tire out as quickly with repetitive tasks. While it struggled with 12-2 cable, the cut was clean. This Klein allows you to cut harder materials while protecting you should you cut an energized line, this alone makes it worth the extra cost.

I’m impressed with the quality of this pair of diagonal cutting pliers. They have the look and feel of a quality cutting pliers. They fit nicely in my hand and the cutting pliers work well with working gloves too. With 8 inch length, it makes cutting wires a breeze. You can’t go wrong with these. I have used Klein tools in the past and they do last a long time.

Klein tools have always provided me with a mid-priced, pro quality tool that was a great value. And, I’m a serious DIY type, not a pro. These diagonal cutting pliers are no exception.I have at least five pairs of old fashioned, all metal diagonal pliers in my arsenal. Virtually all of these were inherited from my father or grandfather. I’m quite proud of that. However, every one of them has nicks in the cutting surfaces from years of abuse that can’t effectively be ground out. So, I try and “nip” wires with the section of the upper and lower jaws that still meet. And wonder why I just don’t spring for a new pair of diagonal cutters.This Klein 8″ pair fixed that. They have many features that all of my older, non-insulated diagonal cutters do not. They are modern and of excellent quality. 1) The joint between the jaws is very tight and seems very durable. They won’t be developing any play.2) The steel in the jaws of these Kleins is much harder than any of my old cutters. It doesn’t get nicked up when used on harder, steel wire like my old, non-Klein ones did.3) They are double insulated and thus rated up to 1000V application. The insulation is well attached to the handles and there are finger guards to keep your fingers from slipping onto the bare metal above. None of my old diagonals were insulated, sav for the vinyl tape that someone might have wrapped on their handles which is not really insulation at all.4) They are high leverage, making it much easier to snap through a coat hanger wire than the old ones I had.5) Their bright orange color really helps folks like me find them in nooks and crannies I might set them into when working on a project. Places like the top of the water heater or, on a fire block in the garage wall etc. :-)Overall I’m very impressed with the quality of these Klein diagonal cutting pliers and wonder why I didn’t just dump those old ones years ago and get myself a pair of this first rate Kleins.
