It’s a Klein tool, what more can be said?

I tried the diagonal cutting pliers on some small electrical wire. They are designed to be able to strip small wire. I tried using the unit to strip some wire and found the jaws to bulky to do the job I am used to with my regular stripping tool. I also tried the use the W-groove that the diagonal cutting pliers has and did not have very good luck with that part of the tool. It is a very good quality diagonal cutting pliers and would serve well in that capacity.

With the Klein Tools name stamped on these diagonal cutting pliers you know that they are of the best quality. If you are looking for a quality small wire cutting pliers look no further because these are the best you can get. They have a soft comfortable grip and a great cutting jaw that can easily cut wire up to 12 AWG. They also have a notched out area at the bottom of the jaws for stripping small gauge wire.

This is a great set of heavy duty all purpose diagonal cutting pliers. Very comfortable rubber dipped handles with a very solid feel. Absolutely zero wobble in the handles! The cutting pliers have a notch in the blade to slit insulation cleanly. The 6″ size is perfect for all sorts of more delicate work along with being able to handle larger type work. Very nice Pliers!! I would strongly recommend!!

Compact size makes this an ideal wire cutter for small thru medium size wires. There is a “skinning hole”, as Klein describes it. It is located in the cutting blades about 2/3 of the way back from the tip of the blades. It is to allow you to easily strip the insulation from 24 AWG wire. I found it was easy to use. It was also easy to cut wire this small up through 12 AWG. The handles are covered in a smooth and soft plastic. The red color will make it easier to find them when they are in a pile of tools. See Photos. The rivet that holds the the joint is tight but it allows you to easily open and close the cutters with one hand.

These 6 inch heavy duty diagonal cutting pliers by Klein Tools are an overall excellent hand tool for electrical work where smaller copper or aluminum wires need to be cut. They are of a very high quality and the jaws close together with absolutely no gap and no misalignment. This makes cutting very easy. There is a small notch in the jaws that is intended to allow 24 AWG solid telephone wire to be stripped. I would characterize these diagonal cutters as “mid-sized” that are best suited to wires of 10 AWG or less. Please note that these pliers are NOT insulated from electric shock and shouldn’t be used on any live wires. These pliers are made in the USA and are a good example of the high quality that I have come to expect from Klein Tools.

With features like the skinning slot for 24 AWG wire and the comfortable plastic coated handles, these are easy to use and versatile. The cut is clean and can be used to cut wire up to and including 12AWG. They also work well on stranded wire but require a bit more clamping force to make a clean cut. I do a lot of electrical work and would recommend these cutters without hesitation.

If you do a lot of telephone utility and line work, these are the diagonal cutting pliers to have. Like all Klein Tools, they are well thought out. These pliers fit well in the hand and are both spring loaded for fatigue reduction and also are setup for standard Bell Systems 24 AWG wire insulation stripping and cutting. Cutting edges are sharp and so far, holding a nice edge and I expect many years of service to come. Highly recommend for those in the professional trade.

It is always said that there is no substation for quality ,and these pliers are quality . Lately I’ve noticed a lot of inferior quality tools being sold . I feel these are a waste of time and money. Doing a lot of my own maintenance around my own home for years it’s alway refreshing to use a quality tool that makes the job go easier and faster. I love this plier, it;’s just quality !!

As a maintenance mechanic I’ve always used this sized diagonal cutters for smaller residential type work. These cutters by Klein are excellent quality-like all the Klein tools that I’ve used over the years. I use these cutters primarily in residential electrical work like in installing or replacing switches, receptacles and light fixtures. I also use them in making lamps. Because of this I am working with smaller gauge wires like #18, #16, #14 and #12. I like the grips on the handles and the size of the cutters-big enough to give me leverage but not so big so as to be unwieldy for my smaller hands. I hope you find this helpful.

*Everyone should own a pair. Why not own a good pair?* A pair of diagonal pliers are a tool that I believe everyone should have in their toolbox. These aren’t just great for electricians, they have many uses. What you should know when considering any tool with the Klein name on them is that they are probably going to be one of, if not the best of that particular tool that you can buy. Build quality of these pliers are superb. Right on the package it says “made in USA” and right away it shows. I appreciate being able to get quality american made tools more and more the less they are available. These pliers are extremely tough and made of hardened steel. They pivot smoothly and are in no way loose or wobbly. The rubber grip is comfortable, plenty ergonomic, and while not insulated they may save you from a minor shock or two. I have no reservations stating that if properly used and cared for, this tool can and will last you a lifetime, if not longer. Performance wise these pliers leaves nothing lacking. They are strong enough to cut a galvanized steel fence, precise enough to get in there and make close cuts when needed, and the strippers work just fine. Outside of the intended uses of cutting wire, screws, and nails I find it extremely handy to be able to get up close and cut tie wraps and nylon rope. They are just super handy and I can’t imagine doing any work without having a pair nearby. If after reading this review, or the countless other positives around the web for this tool, that you still aren’t convinced, I’d suggest that you go out and buy a cheap pair of cutting pliers. Give them a go for a little bit and then buy these Kleins. I’m certain by that point you will be fully convinced. All in all this product is an easy recommend. I look forward to getting many years of use out of these as well as any other Klein tools that I may be fortunate enough to add to my arsenal of tools.
