What a great tool I have in these pliers. First off they are made in America by a company that have been making tools for over 100 years. I am not a professional electrician but I have and will continue to work on electrical projects such as outlet and lighting wiring. These pliers are built like a tank, but are much more maneuverable than a tank. They cut through wire like they should, and I cut through a piece of 550 paracord in one squeeze!!I have owned these pliers for about 4 weeks now, they have fully met my expectations. I can’t find anything that I do not like about these Klein pliers.

If you are looking for side- cutting pliers, you could hardly make a better choice than this 8″ Klein model J213. It is of the highest quality in craftsmanship and material. When using this tool you will find that it fits in your hand well and the handle gives you high leverage when cutting. The hot- riveted joint ensures smooth action and no handle wobble. You can cut 8 or 10 guage wire easily. The quality of this tool is not a surprise because it is a tradition of this American based Company located in Illinois. The side – cutter pliers are an iconic American tool that is well known by workers in the electrical field. Mathias Klein founded the Klein Tool Co. on this tool in the 1850’s.

The Journeyman has a handle has a soft outer surface to make it more comfortable for my hands and a hard inner material for durability. These pliers are hot riveted joint to make it a smooth operation when cutting wires. The jaws have a cross-hatched knurled for a sure grip. If you doing electrical wiring and cutting wire this is the tool in your pouch. Klein Tools are the best tool for your money. Made from Custom US Steel Alloy and made in the USA!

These journeyman pliers are very well manufactured. They are a little stiff to open and close, but I expect them to loosen up with use. They worked very well with sixteen gauge galvanized wire, twisting it into very nice, tight braids and easily cutting through the braided wire. They have plastic-like coating on the handles that provides a comfortable grip. I expect them to last indefinitely.

The 8 inch journeyman high leverage side cutting pliers are just the pliers my son uses in in his electrical contracting business. He uses them numerous times a day and says they do the job well! Rugged heavy construction that withstands real world abuse, such as substituting for a hammer to avoid an extra trip down the ladder. The pivot is located close to the cutters for high leverage. Pivoting action was typically tight as received and eased after working in a few drops of lubricant. The handle coating has a hard black inner layer and softer dark blue outer layer for comfort, best appreciated after extended use. The jaws are cross-hatch knurled for gripping and twisting wires. The cutters on the J2138NE are designed for soft metals, copper and aluminum. For cutting ACSR, hardened steel wire, screws, or nails, Klein offers heavy duty pliers in the 2000 Series, such as J20008 or the 9 inch J20009NE. Difference in price is small. Limited lifetime warranty covers defects, not normal wear and tear. Made in USA.

Klein makes the best quality pliers on the market. These pliers have a good weight to them and the hinge is built very tight and smooth. The handles are dipped for a perfect coating that provides reasonable comfort for the user’s hands. The cutting surface of the pliers is very durable and has no problem cutting through both aluminum and copper electrical wiring. I have a pair that are over 20 years old that are even better than new because they are broke in and open and close easily. When I was building a new tool set to leave at my deer hunting camp I knew I would have to get another set to keep my old ones at home in my main tool set. I was a little leery at first because a lot of products seem to appear the same as they were years ago but the quality has dropped, I was very satisfied that in all of these years Klein tools have not dropped in quality in the least bit. I have every bit of confidence that I will have these Klein pliers for a lifetime.

I was an electric lineman for 30 years and had a pair of these pliers. I bought a pair years ago but lost them recently and just bought these. I always said don’t leave home without them. Made in USA which is a plus!!I cannot recommend these enough. Good American steel. Extreme leverage for holding or cutting. I literally will not buy another brand now because of these pliers.

Klein makes the best pliers I have ever used.The Knife is induction hardened to deliver precise cuts to every type of wire. Cross-hatched knurled jaws give you great gripping power when you are tying tie wire.The soft grip handles make using these a pleasure. The name Klein is synonymous with quality in the electrical business and every electrician I know is using or has used Klein linesman pliers. In my mind they are the gold standard for electrician’s hand tools. These are not inexpensive linesmans pliers. Costing upwards of $40.00+ they are worth every penny. I generally use the 9” 2000 series pliers but when I saw these shorter 8” Journeymans I wanted to give them a try. As expected they are beautifully manufacturered and have the look and feel of a high quality hand tool. They are tight and precise in their tolerances. The hardened cutting edges are precisely ground and come together perfectly. The area at the top, above the cutting area, is ground perfectly parallel to each other and are separated by about 1/16”. The faces have a sharp, cross-hatched pattern cut into the surface for great gripping power. I had forgotten how nice new linesmans felt because over time this knurled surface does wear to a much smoother surface with less grip. As far as everyday use, these pliers will cut effortlessly through all wire sizes up through 10 AWG. I also use them on #6 & #8, albeit with the expected add effort. As far as making up several #12 or #14 wires in a junction box, they grip well and twist up the wires evenly. Beautiful job every time. They have 2-tone, black/blue plastic coated handle grips. Klein is still in a league of its own. They come with a Liferime Warranty against manufacturer defects excluding normal wear and tear. They are proudly made in USA.
