This is the Knipex 77 41 115, 4 1/2” diagonal, flush cutting, wire cutter. There’s no question that this is a really fine tool. The milling is absolutely precise, fit and finish is perfect, and the non-slip plastic handles are comfortable. Photo 1 gives you an idea how far the cutting edge of the jaws open from the tension on the spring (about 1/16” at the closest point). If necessary, though, you can actually open the jaws much wider (about 1/4” at the closest point—see Photo 2).I use this cutter when I’m building circuit boards—and the cutting edge does not have a bevel. This gives a nice flush cut. The spring tension is just right for keeping the jaws open without having to apply excessive force to make a cut. Like all precision cutting tools, you must follow the manufacturer’s recommendations on wire size—these are rated for copper (soft wire) up to 3/64” (.0469”) diameter, and for medium wire, up to 1/32” diameter. I only cut copper wire, and the largest wire I typically use in my projects is 22 gauge, which is .0253”. You’re probably safe cutting up to 18 gauge copper wire with this tool (18 gauge wire has a .0403” diameter). In all regards I consider this to be a superior cutting tool. And it comes with a lifetime warranty.
